I'm putting together a DIY xr-e bike light, but I'm going down a different design route than most (mainly down to lack of funds and DIY skills!)

I am planning to mounting the nFlex and switch like an in-line cord switch.

The nFlex will be isolated from the heat that the LEDs generate, plus I can just plug a new light unit in when better LEDs come out.

Can anyone see any problems?

Will post pics when it's all done.
Thanks

Hi DB
The boards can take alot of heat -just have to make sure it can't disconnect easy from the LEDs as it might blow with an open circuit.
How many LEDs are you going to use?

The head will have 3 xr-e's running at 1 amp, and I'm using ledil lenses.
The housing is made from a die cast rectangular aluminium box with piece of 5mm polycarbonate for a lid- I know 5mm is probably on the thick side of what's needed, but it's what I've got to hand.
Thanks for the info

Ktronic had made me a light with 6 LUXs and 2 CC5W's running both at 1A in a similar box -probably bigger than the one you are going to use.
He had stuck them all in the box using thermal tape -also had a heatsink on the back of the box.Think the poly was about 2mm.
5mm should stop a bullet! LOL

Cheers
