Do you refrain from turning on house lights as excuse to use flashlights?

Well since I cant carry house light switches in my pocket I yield to the convenience of using my flashlight (always in my pocket with me) daily or should I say nightly

I like practicing the flow of maneuvering the light from my pocket, shrouding the light with my fingers and turning it right to the setting I want, shutting it off and lining it up again in where it clips in the pocket. When I do it right there's no teasing, none's the wiser.
I do the same thing with pocket knives and other important tools, got just the faintest hint of arthritis starting in a couple of my fingers, which is a big incentive to start learning some coin tricks and other sleights of hand -these are reputed to help.

The AA zebralight headlamp fits in my hand just right to tap the switch with my thumb while I've got my index and middle fingers folded over the lens, works great for when I want to turn it on to L2 and don't know if it's going to come on L1 or L2. Extending index and middle finger out lets the light out and makes a pretty good shroud to keep the light towards the ground. Brings a smile to my face too to make that light appear and disappear out of my fingers.

Just ask my good friend Haloman87. I use a flashlight whenever I get the chance to. Be it walking thru a mine or a friends dark house after hanging out for the night, walking out to the car, using the bathroom in the middle of the night, working on only God knows what. It seems you always need a flashlight for something. Hell, the other night, Haloman87 and I were using my new Maglite XL50 to work on a Minimag that was broke at the time. I have actually found some sort of use for a flashlight almost everyday for quite some time now. I guess I'm starting to turn into a "flashaholic" like all of you guys. Lord help me:ohgeez:...LOL:shrug:

Yes, when my wife is asleep (she works 9-5' and I tend to work a bit later, and go to bed later)
I use my Sunwayman V10r TI to navigate round the house.

If she is awake I sometimes use my M6 or M4 to do the same thing
I have found the Maxabeam isn't really suited to use inside, and gets one of my cats all excited (he chases the beam)

Around the house? Lol, I'm beyond that! I use my M4 and M6 as 'shower' lights! With the warm-tinted light shining through the clear glass shower door, it's like taking a shower during a sunset!

Erm... Perhaps one excuse I could use is that my bathroom has no windows so I miss my showers of my old house where a frosted window allowed lovely ambient lighting, depending on time of day of course.

Absolutely I'm guilty of playing this game.

luckily one of the rooms in my house doesn't have lights, so I either rely on candles or tailstanding a light.

Most of the other rooms have motion detector switches, takes the fun out ofwalking around with a light a bit...

certainly - since I was old enough to carry a D-cell light in the late '40s. As a kid, every storm meant a power outage. As I was allowed to survive my mistakes and eventually started paying an electric billing, which was ~ $0.10/kwh in Minneapolis and ~0.20 Euro/kwh near Nürnberg, I am proud of the average of 150KWH / month for a single-family house during about 1/2 of the year. Showers, making breakfast, typing on the computer, all by flashlight. My kids have flown the coup so turning off the lights after my wife is relatively easy...

Yes, most of the time. My next door neighbours are always surprised to see me outside because they think I work away from home a lot. Maybe there's a potential security issue if everyone thinks my house is empty all the time. 😕

Hmm... seems like I'm not having to change as many light-blubs in the house these days, coincidence? I think not.

As a rule no I dont, but trips to the basement at night and bathroom visits I use a torch on the lowest setting, however I always have a light or two with me 24/7 just in case.😗

actually its not an excuse, it makes sense to use rechargable battery in my flashlight if i only need some dim lit guidelight to get my way thru already darkened (lights off) area for a brief visit, rather than turning on the real lights.. if i know i need more light or spend longer time than just passing thru, i will turn them on.

Yes I leave the light out so I can use a flashlight. Even if I don't have a flashlight I still leave the lights out, you know, do the old zombie walk through the house with arms straight out hopping that I don't stub a toe.

Sure! What's the fun of having a flashlight if the room lights are on? I've done it for years.
