Do you use your lights hard or do you pamper them?

I've just dropped my Fenix LD05 twice... unintentionally............... Sometimes I think i should always have my lights attached to my wrist with a lanyard at all times. So now it has some character.

This thing got sanded and polished a day after I got it.
Had a very small scratch and to was mocking me!

I have lights i baby, and lights i toss around.

I tried your method Tmack, got my 2000/2500 and even 3000 paper, used wet,not much luck but did not want to push it as slightly started to take shine off............

It looks fine still, just looked like it was going the way i didnt want it too..........dull:thinking:

Maybe its in the wrist action😛

Huh? I didn't even get to 2500. I only had 2000. The paper will dull it, but the Polish bring it back better than before.

I actually just did it again. Had a couple scratches from my pocket. Came out flawless.
It's also in the Polish. The paper towels will be black so much metal comes off when polishing

I actually spit on mine. I couldn't have been more careless lol. Came out.. Well you can see. Great!

So quick procedure
2000 paper wet
then polish after ,what would be best polish, would most metal polishes be ok

thanks ven

Should be. I use mothers. Sand with plenty of spit. Wipe dry. Apply polish with filthy finger until it swirles grey and black. Ltd sit for 5 minutes . Wipe with clean paper towels and the bottom of your shirt.

The key to polishing is........

Polish! Haha 😛

Cheers, will attempt again.........failure is not an option!!!!

I treat them like my blades. Some I'll use as a screw driver, some i wouldn't spread butter with. Just depends on the light/situation

The collectible and rare ones are my babies and I spoil them rotten. 🙂

Even my more consumer grade lights I treat well and don't scratch them up and use them hard.

Most of my lights I use for work. I work hard and sometimes get banged up, so I expect my lights to do the same. I don't abuse them just to see how much they can take, but they are used hard.

Hm... now I'm thinking... that perhaps I should retire and start "pampering" the couple of discontinued flashlights that I have... as soon they'll be hard to find and it will be pity if I break them.. lol

I'm always way too paranoid carrying my "special" lights.
I'm very rough with my "non collectable" knives, so I have some Gerber beater knives. (still great blades ) I am the same with my lights. I built a few convoys as beater lights, so I can preserve my nice collection.
I still use them, but I want them to last.
The only lights i polish, and baby are my titanium lights.

Some I use for work, others I use for recreation, I don't "abuse" any of my lights beyond what they're made for. If you have a flashlight and need a flashlight, use it regardless of any scratches or nicks that may occur. We buy these things to see in the dark.

Pamper.

A proper light should be cuddled and hugged often to keep it purring! 😀

I do not go out of my way to abuse lights, but I will get them dirty and scratched if they need to, and occasionally because I want to, just like my multitools. Owning a "shelf queen" is like purchasing a super-car but being afraid to drive it because it could get damaged. I don't get the logic. I like my flashlights and autos the same: reliable workhorses, but good performance when necessary. I don't want an unreliable and expensive luxury flashlight/car, or a very specialized and expensive super-flashlight/car, or a cheap and underbuilt light/car, or an ultra-compact light/car unsuitable for hard work.

I couldn't have agreed more!
