Does anyones else's Eagletac M2XC4 lack a turbo mode?

I just got my M2XC4 today and I loaded up some brand new cr123s and fired it up and there is clearly no turbo mode. It goes low-med-high-low strobe-high strobe. What is low strobe you may ask? Well, I found out while trying to locate my turbo mode that if you very slowly turn the power ring the light goes from high to a dim strobe that looks like it is somewhere between low and medium in brightness. I guess the point of this is to ask if any of you have had the same issue and if there might be an easy fix that would not necessitate me sending the light back to PTS, though I have already talked to Mike over there and have an RMA # just in case. Thanks.

Gavin,
If I were you, I would send it back. Why void the lifetime warranty by monkeying with it's innards. It's obviousley defective, send it to me and I will dispose of it properly.

.... It goes low-med-high-low strobe-high strobe....

I have a similar problem on my M2, but it only happened when the 18650s were about 50% used.

My sequence goes something like low-high-med-flash. I lost one mode all together. Since I can't replicate the issue easily I haven't sent mine back, but I'm watching for it to happen again and I'll take it up with the seller at that point.

I'm pretty sure that Eagletac will take back your light even if you can't replicate the problem if you send it to them. They may repair it for you or send a new one, but you should definitely tell them.

I know you said the batteries you put in it were new, but did you test them? Maybe one of them is not putting out 100% and then it caves in when it gets asked for more juice, causing the light to flicker or strobe.

Not bashing this light, but should you always have to have fresh batteries in it for it to work properly?

Oddly enough, most portable electronics need batteries in good condition to work properly. For some reason, crappy cells = crappy performance. Who'd a thunk it

To those that suggest that it may be a battery issue, I tried several different sets of Battery Junction cr123s and the EagleTac 18650s that I ordered with the light, so I don't think that is the problem. From what I can tell there is not really room between the high and the strobe setting for there to be a turbo mode between them, if that makes sense. As I turn the ring it does nothing for about 3/4" then low kicks in and then 1/2" for medium and the about the same for high and then, if I turn really slowly, I get this low output strobe and then high strobe. I can't say for sure I'm not seeing turbo at the highest output, but I don't believe so as it's not really much brighter than a 2 cr123 r2 I have for comparison and in any case I am definitely missing a setting in there somewhere, because I only have 4 total, unless you count the low strobe, and there should be 5.

I have to say that I really like the light and don't want to slam Eagletac by posting about this stuff. I was just hoping to get some feedback on what might be the cause and maybe a fix I could perform without shipping it off. I hate to be without my newest toy for an extended period. Priority mail took 8 days to get the thing here from WA in the first place and now I'm going to have to ship it back out there. Bummer. Good thing is that Mike from PTS said they would pay the shipping if it was found to be defective and not user error. Thanks to all that have posted.

Send it back. I have M2XC4 and am very pleased with it. My only complaint is the short space between turbo and strobe, but I can live with it.

Nichole from Eagletac customer service just PMed me this. I'm a big fan of this kind of support.

Hi Gavin

I read your M2XC4 post and I believe the sensors are not calibrated correctly. Please return the light to Mike for an exchange. Let me know how it goes and keep me updated.

Sorry for the trouble. Let me know what else I can help.

Gavin,

I am now able to reproduce the problem I'm having with the control ring and loss of some modes (but not Turbo).

Do you know if the seller re-calibrates the sensors, or is that something only EagleTac would do? Was your light exchanged?

Waiting for an exchange. Hopefully a new, improved version.
