Does This Light Exist?

I'm looking for a new light & would like one with the following features:

Low/high/strobe functions- Those three are what I'm looking for. I don't need a bunch of in between power levels but if a light has them it's not a deal killer. I don't need a gazillion lumen light; something in the 80-200 range on high/strobe would be fine.

AA batteries- Cheap, I have a lot of them & that's what my EOTech runs on. With the power most of these lights have a single battery would be fine, 2 & the light gets a little long.

Momentary tailcap switch- If I have to buy on ala Fenix that's fine.

Pre-set on function- I want to set it for strobe or bright & leave it there. If I need less light I'll be in a position to fiddle with it to get to that lower level but the reverse probably won't be true.

Weapon mountable- With as bright as these things are getting I'm going to experiment with having it mounted on an AR & shotgun as well as working as an EDC pocket light.

Clip of some sort- When it's in my pocket I want to access it quickly without a lanyard hanging out of said pocket. If it's an add on like the tailcap that's fine as long as it's a sold piece of gear.

Made in America- I really don't want to buy a China-made light.:scowl:

If you're looking for something to compare to I have a couple G2 & E2D Surefires, both incan. The closest I've been able to find is a Fenix LD10 or L1T, but they're made in China.

I believe Streamlight might have a light with those specs. Try checking out their website.

You also might want to check out Heliotek, made in the USA:

It now has a 60 lumen LED that throws out to 200+ ft.

Good luck.

The Night-Ops Gladius/Insight Typhoon and the First Light Tomahawk ST fit #1 & 3, but I can't even think of a American light with strobe that runs on AA's.

I don't know when the NovaTac Classic is due out, but that might fit the bill.

I wish you good luck with your search, I can't think of any USA made tactical AA lights.

Unless you want to buy something and mod it and buy aftermarket parts for it until you have your perfect light. Something like a Surefire 9P with a malkoff M30 dropin, a bit of PVC tubing in the battery tube so it holds 2AA cells instead of 3 123 cells, a surefire weapon mount and an aftermarket switch which makes mode-switching possible. But I don't think this would get 100 lumens. And I don't know if the Malkoff M30 is still being produced. And I don't even know wether this is possible

Pocket clips can be bought from a lot of places. If you look around long enough you'll find one you can make fit your light.

The Nitecore Defender Infinity has the user interface you're looking for and runs on one AA cell, very EDC-able, but it's made in china and I don't think there are fitting weapon mounts for it.

I take it back. I always forget that the Photon Proton Pro has blinky modes.

The Proton Pro doesn't have a momentary clicky, and you'd have to devise a weapon mount, but I think it fits the rest of your requirements.

Wait a bit on the SureFire UA2. It has everything you want and even more.
Only thing is that it has CR123's. positive about that is that it is has lots of energy in a small package.
You could also wait for the SureFire UB2, that doesn't have a flood/spot option and puts out a little bit more: 400 lumens.

IMHO EDCable 1x AA lights are by definition not of the grade and size that you could weapon mount them. Most certain not for tactical use, but also not for hunting and defence use.

Thanks for the info guys. I think the modding is a bit over my head.

Alec, from what I've seen a lot of the Fenix lights have plenty of power & I was under the impression that the LED lights were much more robust than the incandescents which would make them better suited to being weapon mounted. Granted, I'd have to come up with a good size shim for the mount itself, but that's not too hard to do. If you or someone else could expand on that I'd appreciate it.
