Does your LOP do this?

I thought the orange peel reflector was supposed to smooth out the beam. I guess it does look better when tightly focused, but it is far worse when set to flood. This is a cammed reflector in an otherwise stock Mag 2D. Before the orange peel, the flood was actually rather smooth. Now it's full of rings?

Yes.....

One of my FM LOP's is like this...........The other two I got are fine.

When you look into the reflector head on it looks 'ringy' and with the lamp on it has the same pattern as yours.

Seems to me like there was too much coating applied and it has drooped into that ringy pattern as it has set.

As you say it doesnt do anything for the beam quality...only advantage is it won't melt like a stock reflector.

I'd post beam shots for comparison but for some reason the thread won't allow it.

None of my Carley OP reflectors do that. Not at all.

In fact, none of my Carley SMOOTH reflectors do that.

That is a defective reflector, with systematic aberations off of parabolic.

Not good. Not good at all. Not acceptable. Ask for a new one.

wow.. you can actually 'see' the waves just looking at the reflector.. sounds like some QC step was skipped... i agree with Jim's assessment.

I said earlier that my reflector was a 'FM'...

It's not......My FM LOP is flawless. Sorry about that Fivemega.

The one pictured is from MM's recent group buy.

Looks like a couple of 'bad uns' have slipped through the net. :scowl:

Hmm, I tried my LOP from modamag's GB as well, in my mag2HID. I didn't get rings like that, but I do get those sharp saw-tooth like edges in the beam, even when focused.
