Don\' t do what I did with my new mod...

Wayne (Elektrolumens) kindly built a 3C in 2D LS in a red Mag body for me. He was a pleasure to work with...Anywho, got the light, popped in the Batts., fired it up and was astonished that an LED could light up across the room in daytime! Like I do with many of my lights, I looked directly into the beam. BIG MISTAKE!! Instantly blinded with minutes of spots in my eyes thereafter, and ya know what? That light is so bright, so pristine, so shiny and beautiful that a day later, I did it again...yup, it still is blinding! At night, it illuminates a 25' hallway in beautiful white loveliness. THANKS WAYNE...can't wait for the same kind of brightness in a more compact form...the Lambda Illuminator....these forums are great..I am even going to do a blue led minimag for my son (he loves blue)

Yup, the Luxeons are amazingly bright. While I was playing with mine on the bench (Coffee Table

) I would do that to myself over and over again. (I never learn.) Everytime I would lean over to get up off my chair with the Luxeon on, I would inadvertantly put my head in the beam, then I would have to walk blind over to whatever I was going to do. It would honestly take about a minute for the spot to go away.

One of the little pleasures in life is handing a bright Luxeon flashlight to the average person and watching them. They always point at eyes, then turn on. The look on their face is priceless, not to mention the stumbling around in blindness for a few minutes.

Two things all people do when given a flashlight:
1) Look into the beam
2) Take it apart

Seems to be pretty universal.........

No, it is not focusable. The reflector is just for appearance. The light is focused using the collimator.

One thing that can be done, on a camping trip, is to remove the flashlight head, and remove the collimator. Makes a nice tent light, or campsite light. You could use it all night long, every night, for a week, and use the same set of batteries!

For some reason, people do not share our amusement with this phenominon (spelling).

I find that most people have no concept of beam quality, or useful functionality. If it won't light up a wall across the street, it isn't a good light. Very few uninitiated folks can't imagine that I can use my Arc AAA for ANYTHING. Can't see it on the ceiling in daylight - what could you possibly use it for? Then, when I shine it in their eyes, they quickly become believers for some reason.

Then they hit me.

YC,
Looking into the light is OK, just be sure not to go into the light.
