So wait. It’s technically a speeding ticket but you don’t get points on your license?
It's technically a fine against the vehicle. The speed camera has no way of knowing who is driving the vehicle, so you can't put points on the owner's license. Unlike speeding tickets issued by a cop, you can get an unlimited number of these and still keep driving.

1) The NYPD didn't need to be reigned in at all. They should have continued doing exactly what they were doing. That's when this city was under control.
So giving jaywalking tickets really made the city safer. Remember even during low crime years in the past laws like this were never enforced, yet crime didn't rise because of it. Just stick to enforcing stuff like I mentioned. That actually brings crime down.
2) "Who keeps selling the bikes". It's not just dirt bikes and ATV's... The bigger problem is the Mo-peds both electric and gas powered are the bigger issue. Those are 100% LEGAL to own, and ride on the street, so stores can legally sell those without any problems. The issue is all of these perps aren't buying their moped, they are stealing them. Then they ride around the city and cause mayhem without a license plate attached to the moped so no way of tracking who's doing what. Not only that, these guys are evading tolls on bridges and tunnels and speed trip cameras and red light cameras. --- SO the police not feeling comfortable going after THE PERPS comitting these CRIMES, Is THE ISSUE. ---> Lets not make excuses for the perps actions, how about we hold the scum bags accountable instead? Bring back TOUGH ON CRIME, arrest the perps and make them do real time, get them out of society so the rest of the actual law abiding citizens can enjoy peace and quiet and not fear walking down the block and getting robbed.
Most don't steal the mopeds, but the stores selling them are under no requirement to put plates on them before letting the customer ride off with them. Maybe they should have to. And the gas-powered mopeds need to be made illegal to own or operate in city limits. They're much faster/more dangerous than the electric mopeds, plus they stink and make tons of noise. Battery/motor tech has reached the point where gas-powered 2-wheelers are obsolete.

I actually wish the police would start going after mopeds riding in bike lanes. It's illegal for one thing. Plus it's dangerous to cyclists to have vehicles doing 30 or 40 mph in close proximity. These mopeds are fast enough to take a regular traffic lane. That's where they belong.
3) "driving here is worse than public transportation due to road rage"... That made me chuckle. I guess you enjoy the random homeless guys smelling up your train car smoking weed and K2 right next to you, hell you cant walk down a city block without getting high on weed now. Its disgusting. The city has gone to crap BIG TIME. Not as bad as the 80's. But certainly nowhere near as great at it was in the early 2000's.
Driving many places takes forever. In Manhattan especially you can often walk faster than you can drive. Between that, plus the ridiculous amount it costs to own a car, it's not a viable mode for lots of people. As for the subway, the rare times I've encountered unpleasant people I simply walked to the next car.

Yes, it's far from as bad as the 1980s or early 1990s. Keep that in perspective. As we reverse some of the policies of the former idiot Mayor things should start to move in the right direction. To this day I still don't know how he got a second term. He was worse than Dinkins, yet Dinkins was a one-term Mayor.

When I lived in a small town if you drove the speed limit you were passing nearly everybody else. They saw the number and the word limit to mean that's the max speed you drive. Nobody was in a hurry unless it was sure enough an emergency. And people living to be 100 was pretty common. Lots of people in their 80's looked 50 something. I went there for work and when the work was done I moved back to a small town with 5 choices of pizza and a Dairy Queen.

Agree with everything you said, however those cameras don't flash if you go 39...

They flash if you go 36. ( I've gotten nailed twice at 36!)

Apparently they give you a 10 MPH cushion anything above that and your done.

So 25+10=35 (Your fine)
36=ticket.
Yeah, my math was off. You're right. Never was my best subject.
Thank God I can balance a checkbook, at least.

It's now to the point in this city and state that if you're a Democrat, people just blindly vote for you regardless of the type of job you did previously. For example: Our current Governor.

Never met a horrifically violent criminal that she didn't fall in love with, and did her best to keep them from going to jail! Remember that? Deranged lunatic. Worse than our previous Mayor. Got to keep her job. How lovely.

In a small town there is less chance of getting poisoned by local products, since if someone sells rottenness and poison, they will pick him up with a pitchfork. But on the other hand, they like to set up chemical dumps and just landfills near small towns, but there is simply no medicine, as well as roads. There is also widespread corruption and crime, welded together with the local authorities.

I think the most important thing is the people who inhabit these territories. If people are bad, then it doesn't matter whether it's a big city or a small one

Gaining fame as the birthplace of actor Andy Griffith and the believed inspiration for the fictional town of Mayberry in the "Andy Griffith Show," Mount Airy capitalized on its connection with the series. It established annual events like Mayberry Days and tourist attractions such as Floyd's Barber Shop and the Andy Griffith Museum.[15][16]

Problem is, Mayberry doesn't exist, and never did!
I said it doesn't exist because there is no town named Mayberry in NC.

Unfortunately my medium sized town has become nothing but a rat race of SUV's and trucks following three feet behind you even if you're already doing ten over. This place is nothing but garbage anymore. Definitely not the place I grew up in.

I guess I don't know what would be a small town anymore. 40k people seems like a small town to me by comparison to most towns, parishes, townships and such. In my home town, we have many fast food places and we also have many sit down restaurants. Which is nice that we are becoming more diverse in the food side. Nice thing is that because its a smaller town is that the prices generally are cheaper for food. I do like the near by big city, but I spend 20-30 bucks for a small meal because they have to afford their rent.

As far as driving goes, I only have to worry about people driving below the speed limit in the wrong lane.

I'm not trying to convince people to move to small towns. I like it how it is. Things I miss from bigger cities is you can find a specialty shop for whatever you're looking to fix. Small towns you're going to have to order online and wait for it to come in the mail. I miss the convenience of being able to buy parts and rebuild my transmission the same day. I miss being able to go to a pick n pull and choose from thousands of cars to find spare parts. In smaller areas, the pickings are a lot less. If you ask a tire shop in a big city for used wheel weights, they'll give you as much as you can carry away. In small towns, they cast them into sinkers or bullets or they're saving them for someone who does that.
