Dorcy 1 Watt vs. SL Jr.

The Dorcy is not regulated. The 3-AAA-adapter used in the light is too loosely mounted, so that it can disconnect if the light is punched on the tailcap (or falls down etc.), causing the light to go out due to the electronic switch. It's a nice mod base, though.

For a good light out of the box, my advice is to get the SL Jr. Luxeon, which is only slightly more expensive.

I've seen one of these Dorcy's with a real nasty green/brown beam, so beware of the Luxeon lottery. Some folks have gotten good beams. Be prepared to make a return. I don't think the Dorcy is regulated.

PhotonBoy, you are correct. There is a 2AA 1W Luxeon Dorcy which I know nothing about. I just assumed Webley meant the 3AAA version, which is the only one I ever saw in the local stores down here in FL.

I have a number of Dorcy's, but no Luxeon versions. I do have a SL Jr. Lux. Knowing what I know, I'd get the Jr. It's inexpensive, well built, rugged, regulated and uses either alkaline or NiMH cells. Nice broad hot spot with lots of spill and not too bad throw either, up to 100 ft. or so. Nice clicky tail cap too. Just a bit firm to click for some.

I already have the SL, was just wondering about the Dorcy. I think I won't be getting one (Dorcy). Thanks guys.
