I found one of these at Target this past weekend. Honestly, I thought I was picking up a 3.85 W model but this one is a 6 W model. I cannot find it on www.dorcy.com or anywhere else with google. Seems very well built, same as other Dorcy products I own. It has two modes, normal and strobe. The packaging claims 120 lumens. Anyone else know about this model? I feel like I have another great light. It seems similar in brightness and pattern to my Free.Light Spartanian without the yellow tint around the hot spot. Also, the rest of the pattern is more ringy than the Spartanian. A very good light for the money. I will try to post pics later.

I looked at the package when I was at Target. Looks like they took their standard 3AAA battery carrier and stuck 2 of them together. Now what configuration it's running I don't remember as I didn't really read it that carefully. From what I can tell, it's a similar designed carrier as the one that comes with their Metal Gear. Unfortunately, those carriers are horrible and have a lot of resistance. If I bought one of these K2 6AAA flashlights, I'd probably still swap out the emitter with an SSCP4...

Dorcy seems to have three 6 watt lights that all claim 120 lumens. I have seen one of them in a Sears store, but not in thier web site. Otherwise, I have not found a place to buy these yet. Anyone have experience with any of these lights?

You can sometimes find Dorcy (and Garrity) products on eBay before the stores stock them. I don't know if it's because stores change their lineup slowly, or distributors let stock "leak".
FWIW, Brightguy carries the 3.85 (80 lumen) High Power, as does ****'s Sporting Goods.

FWIW, when I googled the part number, all I found was this thread:

The 2xCR123A I have seen at Sears the last couple of times I was there. I hope to have pics up this weekend, sorry for the delay. Life happens...

I picked up the Dorcy 2xCR123A 6 watt flashlight at Sears the other day for $39.99. I will be returning it tomorrow. The LED is not mounted in the center of the reflector and the beam is horrible. There does not seem to be any way to get into the head of the light to adjust the LED. It has a reverse clicky tail switch and I don't like the feel of it in my hand. With all of this rubber blocks attached to it, it just seems overdone and gaudy.
:eeew:

I have the 2007 version of Inova's T3 with a K2 led and 3Xcr123 cells. It is not quite 100 lumans in my estimation. I do not know how Dorcy's would be brighter with 2 cells. Both Inova and Dorcy seem to be fond of stretchinggggg their lumans numbers.

I think the trick for marketing (and is more to the truth) is that manufacturers and dealers tend to state the lumens coming off the emitter. It is then up to us consumers to realize you've got to subtract somewhere around 20% (loss from lens, reflector and/or optic) and then you'll end up somewhere around what the actual lumens are out the front of the flashlight...but most people don't think about that or realize it.

Perhaps I'm just all to eager to jump on the rant-about-dorcy products bandwagon...
But the runtime of a K2 driven to 120 lumens (at the emitter) with AAAs must be horrible. Am I off base on this assumption?

Which is probably why they went 6 AAAs rather than 3...

Hey Stan, I don't think you are the first one to return this dog to Sears...:thumbsdow
Nope, i tried one and returned it about a month ago myself, a true stinker of a light, when the CSR rep at the register went to remove the tailcap to remove the batteries the light *self destructed* in his hands...

...the tailcap literally fell apart, the aluminum collar was jammed in the flashlight body, locking the batteries in, and the reverse clicky just simply fell apart, shooting a stray spring off into the corner of the register station, absolutely pathetic

I sure as heck won't be buying another, what with the off center emitter, sealed head and propensity for self-destructing tailcaps....

I rate this one as follows (scale of 1-10)

Brightness; 5, it's nowhere near 120 lumens
Tint; 8.5, my model had a clean white tint
Beam pattern; 2, off center emitter created Mag-like rings and dark spots
Durability; not taking into account the self-destructing tailcap, the light *feels* solidly built, i'd rate it a 7 before tailcap self-destruct
Quality Control; -2, taking into account the off-center emitter, and the self-destructing tailcap, this is one light that could have used more QC time before being released to market

overall rating; .5 it gets a half-point because it's able to create light, but the poor QC trumps all other factors

I picked up one of these Dorcy K2 Luxeon 6AAA lights and I must say it is not bad at all. It has a big corona and tight bright spot and is made fairly well as far as the machining goes. Probably more like 80-100 lumens and not 120 in my estimate but happy with it. Only wish they made the lens glass and not polycarbonate. Also the switch would of been more useful if it didn't have the annoying and useless strobe unless you are in public service of some sort or in an emergency where the strobe might help. I much prefer the standard momentary clicky where this one lacks. Common dorcy get it right!
