Dosun M1 bike light?

A head light like a L2D or something may go well with it.
I would also prefer a higher high mode of 200+ lumens.

I don't have any experience with this light though, sorry.

Oh goody, another overpriced, under-powered bike light. For that money, and L2D will be much better IMO.

It has a good range of features, decent runtime and a proper beam pattern. Hard to see in the vid but looks like there is some spill between hotspots.
All in all looks great.

I got some Dosun M1 information from Mobile01, mobile01 is SIG forum in Taiwan they have lots of discussion about this product.

http://www.mobile01.com/newsdetail.php?id=5888
http://www.mobile01.com/topicdetail.php?f=318&t=698750

I just post the photo to CPF, all discuss is base on Chinese language. if you are interested you can see the detail discussion from mobile01. According to the mobile01 discussion, this Bike light is simular design like motorcycle and car head light, especially they provide cut-off line design to avoid blind other bike rider's eyes. 2 light spots design is you can see the detail stuff beside the bike front tire. :nana:

some rider use the torch as head light, but we all know the torch light output is not design for Bike light. Some tactical torch design to blind enemy's eyes. use the torch as Bike light is not user friendly.😳

None of those 58! pictures load(and if they did they would take all night).

+1 :twak: 😡 :scowl:

BTW with the way LED's have advanced I agree with another poster about it being another overpriced and under powered bike light on the market which I somehow think it'll be a marketing game again to push numbers to get people to think it's good to buy. I don't own the product but I ride a lot at night thus why I've done some DIY's because the lighting out there locally sucked for the price that I can get more light for the same price (tho not a sexy housing body tho *insert Rod Stewards 'if you think I'm sexy' here*)

I would have thought with the sea of LED bike lights out there at least you'd see 2 x high power LED's be in Cree/SSC in there say powered at 350mA/600mA to help keep the heat down but more light in the lower power mode.

Edit: All the images loaded for me. Znomit dunno... manybe something didn't connect on your end? At least there is confirmation it works. Wax the modem! 🙂

=============================================

the photo that I take in last night just for you reference

My opinion is, Basicly, M1 light output can not exceed 2 high power torch or some thing simular.
But I think the point is, just like you drive a car, you don't like other driver blind you with high beam. use torch as bike lamp, just like you drive a car always switch to high beam mode.

in downtown, even you don't have the bike lamp you still can see the street road and can ride the bike at night(little danger). (at least in Taiwan, too much street lamp)
But if your purpose is mountain bike off road, like my SUV. you may need high power LED array, you should carefully to see all direction not only in front of bike but also the tree, tree branch and stuff at tree branch.

Some people ask what is the best bike light, I said depends...

road bike, M1 is better than others, not blind other rider.
mountain bike off road, high power LED array or multi-high power torch is better.
city bike, regular LED bike light simular like tail lamp. your light output can not exceed street lamp, so just remind other rider, you are there and your are coming.......

M1 constant current and cut-off line design is quite different than others.
M1 is quite good but quite expensive:twothumbs

I have owned the Dosun M1 for a couple of weeks and I like it a lot but I will have to say up front, it is quite expensive.

Having the $$ remark out of the way, I mounted the light on my Catrike Expedition. I know, I am an old man that rides a trycicle, but check out the Catrike web site and, well, maybe not *that* old.

The Dosun M1 has a wide beam pattern, and the combination of throw out front and seeing the road directly in front works quite well in combination with the wide pattern. It doesn't light up the tree tops but it will light the trunks. This also means it does not blind oncoming drivers and riders which is a good thing. Both full bright and mediun provide sufficient light for trails and neighborhood streets. Battery life is good.

On high, the silver triangle on the top of the light gets quite warm, but that is the heatsink. The blinking function is great for daytime riding to let drivers know you are there but not too bright as to pi$$ them off. I will not be using the strobe, which is very fast , but it is there in case I change my mind.

So far, this trike light is a keeper and I am glad I got it. Oh, one thing that should be fixed. The light should have a quick release so you can easily remove a $78 light from the bike if you leave it parked some place. I have that feature on my $15 tail lights, but not the Dosun.

I wonder how this light compares to the Dinotte 4AA light. I looking for an AA light to recommend on the bike forums. 6hrs at 128 regulated lumens seems a bit high to be believable even for emitter lumens.

I wonder if 4sevens has only sold one of these

Bumping an old thread, which seems to be the only thread on CPF about M1.

Just got one from 47, at $38 just can't pass it up. It does have a very sharp cutoff on top, which is a good thing if you ride on road. When I drive at night nothing **** me off more than bright light pointed at my eyes.

Output on hi is about same as 2D rebel mag, which I estimate to be about 100 lumen. The aluminum heat sink gets hot pretty fast on hi so I don't think it can take any higher drive level. The cree emitter is unknown bin silver back, the head looks easy enough to disassemble but since I have no plan to upgrade the emitter yet I haven't tried.

Does anyone else have this light? Any experience and measurement on either runtime or output?

i just bought two. i wanted to get one a long time ago, but didn't want to spend the money. now that they're 50% off on 7777, i got one for me and one for my pops. i think i get mine this saturday, i'll post back on here if i get a chance to test it out anytime soon.

i wonder if you'll actually check back on this thread anyhow. that was a month ago now.

cheers

tried it out last night. very cool! i had mounted my P3D rebel on my bike using two hose clamps and thought that was good, but the M1 is way better. i really like how it projects two beams (bi-light). there's very little difference between medium and high to my eyes, so i use medium. (i just checked and they are all gone on 7777. looks like i got mine just in time.)

another thing that's great is the light is removable from the mount. it's super easy to remove. you just pull the two tabs on the mount slightly downward and pull the light toward you to remove it. to put it back on, you slide the light forward onto the mount whilst pulling the tabs slightly downward.

it's perfect in my opinion.
