Dressy Flashlight?

I've got a bunch of lights, and I like to mix up which one I carry on a regular basis. But I don't dress up very often, and with a friend getting married soon I started thinking about which light would look best in a formal setting. Something that would work with a dress suit or tuxedo, something small, subdued and formal in it's own way.

What's your dressy light?

I don't have one, but one of Laughing Rabbits' Photon series in black would do.

Hmm... most custom lights like the Katokichi, Jets22, LionHeart etc would fit nicely.
For off the shelf lights, maybe a brass Peak AAA, or Mckinley CR123 (brass or stainless) would probably look nice in formal wear.

I've never seen the Katikichi or Jets22, but I was thinking the LH would be good. Maybe a bit thick, though, especially for when you might not be wearing a belt to holster it. I was thinking the X5T-HA would be slim enough, but the pockets of most dress pants probably aren't deep enough..

The Nuwai 0.5w 2xAAA looks like a fountain pen when clipped in a shirt pocket.

****ADDED****
The clip is reverseable and the color of the light is a satin black...rather elegant looking for $20-$25!

Here's a picture of the Katockichi

And the Jets22 here and here

How about not wearing a flashlight in such occations? Or do you feel naked without a flashlight on you? I hope you not get offended that I ask you this.

I actually do not wear a flashlight on me at all, haven't got that far yet that I have bought me an EDC light.

When I'm at a formal occasion, I always carry this light:

It's a bit flashy, but it matches my tux quite well.

I carry a TnC N cell (bare al) it's great for a use all dressy light. it's small inconspicuous and fits with anything from levis to suits.

Lurveleven - Do I *always* carry a flashlight? Yup, pretty much, and I have for years, well before I found CPF. Before the WWW was big, actually. My dad was a FF/EMT, and since he carried these things I do too. Like I always carry a knife. Even when I'm swimming, I've got a knife and a flashlight. I'm not offended at all in your asking this; it's not that I'd feel naked without a light or knife, just unable to take care of things. It's a force of habit that I choose not to even try to break. .

Or course, my Spyderco isn't going to be so great in a formal setting. I favor my Benchmite for formal occations. Tools like this will come in handy no matter where you are, so I like to be ready for any task possible.

As for the light, I try to shy away from anything in the front pockets of either the pants or jacket, especially in the case of a wedding or something where dancing will be involved. I carry IWB when I guard, so that's fairly easy and comfortable, especially in the small of the back area.

I like that Jets22, and the Orb. The TNC and FF are cool too.

If you carry your keys, just have a normal keychain flashlight there.

ACMarina, presumably you're wearing a tux. If it's that formal, then it's also doubtful that you'll be removing your jacket during the affair.

That would leave a reasonable number of ways to carry or conceal a functional light on you, I would think. For e.g., someone suggested the Nuwai .5 watt (2 x AAA) light with the clip. I would think that light would fit perfectly well clipped inside your cummerbund. Slip over to SOB (Small of the Back)carry or to the front, just inside the hip and it should be fine and not too uncomfortable or obtrusive. I would think that any of the smaller "neato" (pretty much all the stuff I can't afford) lights would also be "carriable" in this manner and provide some serious portable lighting if needed, (e.g. SF E1 series; E2 series, etc.)

You could also rig something for carry inside the jacket (in the armpit or behind the breast pocket).

I think that you could even carry WallaceD's fancy light in those places...Maybe, even in the waistband with head pivoted straight...

hikari, yeah, it would either probably be a tux with a cummerbund or a jacket and vest; regardless, I wouldn't take off the vest/cummerbund, so it wouldn't be too hard to carry any light. So it'd really be up to the light to be dressy. The Orb is really appealing to me, maybe with some sort of exotic lanyard (Titanium braid of some sort?)

Surefire E2e is what i carry when going out on a formal event or something. It's small enough to go in the inside pocket of the jacket.
