I'm trying to build a 6pclone (solarforce l2) with 2xAA batteries.
Can someone suggest a good <$10 driver for me to use?

Hiya aussiebuddha:wave:
How you doing?
Before we get into boost drivers there's a few questions to think over. What type of driver do you require?
Just on - off? or one with many modes high-low-med-SOS etc??
Any idea how much current you are looking to supply to the LED?
What battries do you plan to use, alks or rechargeables?
Cheers

I'm also interested in a driver. I tried one of the dx/kd drivers that everyone is having trouble with and mine are junk too. My goal was multi mode and to push about 700ma+ into a q5 from eneloops.

I know it isn't multi mode, but if you are willing to shell out the extra $$ the Madmax plus is great with two cells. Unfortunately, you often get exactly what you pay for from those distributors.

I was the one that figured that out and my 2 are still not working. They worked until i installed them. I'm thinking i may have shorted one installing it.

EDIT: I reinstalled one and it is working fine now. I think the other is dead.

To the OP, this driver works ok. I haven't checked amperage on the led, but on the batt side i'm pulling 1.5A @2.5v with 3.55v on the led. When I get a replacement board and mod the other light i'll check the amperage on the led.
