Driving an IR LED with nizn/Lithium

DX sells these 1w Infrared LEDs on a star SKU 13961, they are 1.5-1.7v at 700ma from what I gather. Do you guys think I could direct drive them from either a AA Lithium or AA NiZn rechargeable? The lithium is about 1.8v open circuit voltage and the NiZn is about the same, don't know what they sag to under load though. My plan is to put the IR LED in one of those throw to flood flashlights with an aspheric. For night vision usage.
