Drop-ins - different bins

Can some please explain the difference between the 2 drop-in modules that Kaidomain sells. I'm looking at the R2 and the Q5. I can find specs on the Q5 but not the R2. Both drop-in's have built on drivers from 3v-18v. I can't find at what milliamps they are running. Some specs would be great.

R2 [link removed - DM51]

Q5 [link removed - DM51]

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Drop-in's from Kaidomain

R2 and q5 are different bins with different efficiency, R2 is higher.
They may also have different tints.
If you want numbers, please read the bin coding thread (first thread in this forum).

Re: Drop-in's from Kaidomain

Thanks for that. I saw the info on the R2 in the thread but what I want to see is the info from the manufacturer which I can't find anywhere. Where did that info come from in the thread?

then You have to check the datasheets, the maker (Cree) offers at the Homepage, what else.

PS: imho the individual difference between such cheap "throw away when done" inserts are too high to care for the specific bin. The difference Q5 <-> R2 is under 10 % or so, so when the Q5 comes in a thint You like more, the light will be better anyways.
Same goes for drivers, as they are not this stable to say: model A is better than model B
The one giving more current to the led wins, no matter if Q5 or R2

as far as I have learned with inserts, it is plain luck!
You can get good or bad ones and another one ordered can be better/worse again.
single mode tend to drive the led at higher current, multilevel ones tend to annoy You in one/several ways
(but that is a very short sighted point of view from the little sight I have on them - with just 4 different inserts ordered by now)

Trickle down. The information came from Cree through its dealers/disributors.Cree hasn't yet put the R2 in the official datasheets, they are still not available in quantities like the Q5's,which is the highest bin in the datasheets.Presumably, when they become widely available Cree will update the datasheets.

The information in DFiorentino's thread is accurate.
