So I was making one of my early morning bathroom visits when I dropped my McGizmo. (and of course I drop it in the one room with a tile flooring) So when it struck the ground it flickered a few times then stopped. I unscrewed the head and let the battery out...along with a metal "C" part that wasn't loose before...:shakehead Anyways I just wanted to know if I can just glue this back on or if it needs special treatment of any kind?:ohgeez:
Has this happened to anyone else before? In the mean time my NovaTac is back on EDC Duty!:)

Thanks for any and all input on my situation.:candle:

The retaining ring on my mule came off a while back. I glued it back on with super glue and it has worked fine ever since. Make sure you only use a thin layer of glue though (dip something like the back end of a match in glue and use it to "paint" the glue on). Also, only use glue on the sides to make sure it stays in contact with the PCB. I think I put the glue along the edge of the PCB and then put the ring in place, making sure the kilroy was in the center of the opening. Good luck :)

FrogmanM,
The contact ring is soldered onto the PCB by the CM who builds the PCB's. What happened to you should not have happened in all likelihood. If you want to send the light to me, I will resolder the contact ring back to the converter.

Wow! I was just hoping for some suggestions, but help from Don himself! I was extremely annoyed with myself for dropping my prized Ti Torch and I hope that my fault can be fixed.

I will try to get the light to you next week as I have a volleyball game later today...oh yeah email inbound for additional info!

:thanks:for the help CPF!

Thats what I was thinking. I have dropped my Ti PD (EDC) onto concrete at least 3-4 times, and nothing has happened. (Besides scuffing on the Ti)

Dropped mine as well and have had no problems.

You boys need lanyards! I actually lanyard mine more to prevent loss than to prevent drops, but having it tied to my belt has spared me a couple of drops onto concrete.

Yes, I have been thinking about some paracord for a lanyard, and this latest drop has now cemented that idea in my head! Too bad I waited too long to purchase one of GreenLED's creations :ohgeez:Maybe I'll stag one on BST...

Email send Don!

If you can make it from the far off County of Orange to Griffith Park tomorrow for the SoCal CPF party, I will make you a lanyard for your PD. Just tell me what colors you want and I'll make it tonight. :)

A very kind offer Souptree! However its Volleyball season and my weekends are filled with matches. I'm gonna have to miss this get-together:( Griffith Park looks like a great place to try out my small collection for lights too!

Agreed, I have two flats in the base on my TiPD where the Ti has been dented by a drop on a hard surface but without a problem with the kilroy or contact ring. Other drops have had less impact on the surface finish and no impact on the workings.

PM me a mailing address and color choices then. :)

I'm sure pics will be posted of the SoCal party. They have been at the last couple of events. They are fun and everyone is super nice, so try to make it out sometime. There will be a 60" WWII searchlight there this time. I am really looking forward to checking that one out.

FrogmanM,

Please:tsk:

In this place, we don't call him Don, we call him THE Don:D and it is because of things like this.

I ain't gonna call him The Don. He spends too much time in the water with the fishes... :nana: :duck:

I'm working through an identity crisis over here. How about "The Dawn"? :nana:

On a related note, the other day I was showing some folks what I make and I didn't drop my McGizmo, on a whim I threw it down on the concrete. I should have picked tarmac as a target because the concrete put a nice nick in the front lip of the LunaSol 27. The light took out a chip of concrete too so it was a pretty even outcome. To my relief, the light continued to function properly so I didn't feel like a complete idiot.
