DX 3W SSE-P4 Seoul Z-Power Torches x three New 6th Feb. Cree & SSC Stars too..

Re: DX 3W SSE-P4 Seoul Z-Power times three New 6th Feb.

And to think that I just bought a similar flashlight with K2 inside, struggled with it to open an swapped K2 for SSC P4... $50 gone. Now it's for $25... And probably it's easy to disassemble ... :ohgeez:  :scowl: :faint: :ironic: :awman:

Re: DX 3W SSE-P4 Seoul Z-Power times three New 6th Feb.

Kyle is now switching out these MTE Seoul lights to people who ordered the DXE Cree. So one of these is on its way to me. I guess my first Cree light won't be a Cree after all.

Anyone have any idea if the 150-180 lumens is accurate. How much better is this light with the Seoul compared to the Cree models. It is hard to keep up with all this....

Oh darn, from the title I was hoping for a 3 led light. :)

It's always the way isn't it.

But just think how much you've learnt by doing it !!

Three seperate torches.

Re: DX 3W SSE-P4 Seoul Z-Power Torches x three New 6th Feb.

Looks like the have the SSC Emitter now too for $7.50. I have a few lights that use Luxeons where those would probably be a better match as a replacement than the Cree stars I ordered from them a week ago... :D

Their two new lights look like direct drive off 18650. Even though I ordered those 18650 batteries from them expecting to get the DX Cree, I actually still like the looks of the 2 CR123 with even regulation. Either way though, those should have good runtime as the 18650 has about 50% more energy than 2 CR123s.

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

I could buy something new at DX every day...

I've ordered my 3 SSC stars too.

Just a "General" Note.

Hey, just curious, I can't find the 150-180 lumen rating... Which SKU is it for? 1341? I'm guessing the two direct drive SSC lights at 1000 mA @ 3.7 volts will be close to that rating, but it would be nice to see it in writing from DX.

I wish DX would start naming their lights again... it's hard to keep track of which lights are which without those memorable names. :)

Still, I think it's a pretty good price @ $7.50 shipped...

USPS left a tag for my order today; anybody else? I switched to the U2-style Cree light, #1285.

Just out of interest how much better are the SSC LED's compared to the Cree's? Also how suitable would the Cree Ultrafire kit's be for a DIY bike light?

In terms of lumens per watt the two are about the same. The difference with the Seoul is that is throws more light out to the side so more light can be captured by the reflector if you want throw. It also doesn't have the dark "ring" around the hotspot like the Cree (caused the aluminum ring used to hold down the glass dome over the LED). The MTE Z-Power light is quite nice -- it has good throw capability, and you can actually adjust the focus from spot to flood while preserving the seal on the head of the light. However, if you're using optics or a textured reflector (one of the Cree lights DX is selling has a texture reflector) the two will be about the same for light output, and I've found the Crees tend to be slightly better for color rendering.
