Hello All,

I was looking from some help,

I just got my Malkoff M31W but I don't have a host for it yet. I like to use rechargables for everything and RCR123s will kill it, so my choices are the following (all this is is e-series lego-able stuff).

- 1x17500 Aleph body tube (ordered but I have to figure out battery rattle and it's single cell length)
- VME twisty body to go with VME head (ordered as well because I want to try the 2 cell option and it was cheap but I would like a button tail)
- Find a E2L-AA (Not really interested in ordering a whole light just for the tube)
- Order a McGizmo 2xAA tailpack (Something I think I'll just need to suck it up and do probably)

Is there an option I'm missing?

Thank you for your time,
DasRoot

I've been wondering the same thing lately. I'm also trying to decide between the Surefire E2L AA and the McGizmo 2 AA pak, since I want a host with a button. Do you know if the McClickie paks are available for order right now?

How about a 6P with an A19 cell extender. I often use some stiff wrapped up paper to center the 2AA's, and the M31 will fit into the 6P head. Not terribly elegant but it sure functions. Your Aleph body will work with a E series extender sold by Valiant Concepts, or other sources, and works well with VME head. Not sure if Don's 2AA body is appropriate for your needs, as it really needs to be matched with his other Ti parts. I would prefer a twisty body with the M31 to eek the most output out of that little baby.

2xAA will fit in the Vital Gear 3x123 body. And there's the Valiant Concepts Arc->E adapter that will allow you to use any of the old Arc LS bodies (like the 2xAA clicky) with an E-series head.

My FiveMega tube that holds 3xCR123 also rattles with primaries. I wrap 3M electrical tape around the center of each battery until there's a nice sliding fit inside the tube. When the three batteries die, the tape from each battery is unwrapped from the old cell & wrapped onto the new one. Been using the same three pieces of tape for about a year, changing batteries roughly once each month, and the tape still holds as if it were new :D

Copper plumbing tubing can stop the rattle. I did so during the brief time that I tried to use AA cells in a FiveMega 2x18500 body.

But think twice before powering that M31W with a 17500. Even under load, that cell would push it a good half-volt past its rated maximum.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the warning, it wasn't my intention to use a 17500 to power, just use that length tube for the AA (14500). I'll probably steal the copper tubing tip though if I can get the right size, our just split a small size and flare it out a little.

I found that o-rings are great at stopping the rattle. 50mm ones fit great over my Eneloops and stop them from making noise inside my DBS.
