All righty, I'm trying to find a single aa light with either preferably either a rear momentary/twist or forward clicky, good compromise of runtime and brightness, one mode and a tight optic beam. All I am able to find is the Gerber Firecracker, but I just would like to know if there are any other options. Thanks

new E1L with cree led is just too perfect for that application. I have two E2L's it has a tight center beam and good enough spill so u don't hit your head. I just think the light is spread out just perfect, E1L have the same optic but a little less output 30 vs 45, but I think your eyes will be able to tell only if you shine it side by side. Not to mention my E2L gets a solid flat output for 9 hrs, You'll get around 6 hrs. from E1L.

Hi Entrekman, may I know where does the E1L runtime info come from ? I try to search in this site but seems that no one have doing the runtime test on KX1.

I would love to get the E1L, but I am VERY short on money unfortunately and would like something about a third of the price and uses simple aa batts.

I like the firecracker a lot. It's a great light. Tight beam, long runtime, twist only.
The original inova X1 was good, too.

Now available is the fisher space light. 1aaa, aspherical optic.

Like Greenlight said, check out the Inovas with their TIROS optics. The build quality is up there with SureFire, and they have some AA models.

Fenix L1Tv2

Tactical tailswitch (momentary, click on, click off), single mode unless you un-twist the head for low. Don't want Low mode ? Don't twist the head.

Actually I am most likely going to get the L2T in the future, anyone do a optic mod on one of these?

Look through the aspheric mod threads, someone who sent their Fenix in to 4-sevens to get modded was able to remove the reflecter and window and drop in and aspheric lense.
