Some might look at this as an apples to apples review or apples to oranges
review but it is my first so please be easy on me. When I get back from PA
next week I will have some light shots with my wife's new LM33 included
or a independent review on that one.

First the price: D-mini (silver finish) is half of the E1L. And from what I see
as a newbie, the outstanding fit and finish of the E1L and anything
backed up with a lifetime warranty is gonna' be pricy.

The D-mini is no slouch in the fit and finish and the cheapest version of
this one is also the most beautiful, nickel plate version is also nice but
double the price. Because of the finish the LM is not a light to be tossed
around in your backpack but a beauty on the nightstand. Mine has the
Cree XR-E 7090.

I thought my E1L was bright and white but I was wrong after seeing the
D-mini against it. The LumaPower is way whiter of a light and I can see
two things with the LM but not drawbacks for me: Green tint (slight) and
a dark ring.

EL1 has an excellent throw and nice beam with no rings but compared to
the D-mini some bluish tint. Tail switch on the Surefire has already been
replaced once.:ohgeez: Although the D-mini is much more powerful, my EDC is
more about a whiter light than lumens, the D-mini still wins in that dept.

You might want to try the new digital mini's with a forward switch and 3 levels of output...they are really kind of cool. Nice lights!

Nice pictures. If you have the time, some beamshots might help add to your review!

By the way, what's your conclusion? Which gets more use and in which situations?

Ironically, I just two days ago ordered both an E1L and the D-Mini/SE (Epsilon Q5 Cree @175 Lumens) from Battery Junction at the same time. I also ordered the D-65 extension tube as well for the D-Mini.

I guess while I wait for mine to arrive, I'll just have to check in here and see what others have to say for something to do in the mean time...
