E2DL vs L4

The beam of the L4 is pure flood, while the E2DL seems to be more on the thrower side.

I would say they are uncomparable! I own an L4 (Luxeon V) and already had in mind to get an E2DL, which was once compared here to the Olight M20 and the readings (MrGman?) were over 200 Lumen...

is there any difference other than the fact that the E2DL has two modes?

The two lights are quite different.

L4 is a flood light. E2DL is almost all throw because of the TIR optic. With the E2DL you'll get enough spill if it is dark enough. But the L4 is pretty much all flood.

That would be the main difference.

Haven't tried the newer L4s, but from the beamshots, they have a tight spot with wide spill like most reflectored lights of that type.
I'd like to see a comparison of the spots, though.

The downside for me is that I'd want the LED replaced, and the L4 uses a SSC P4 emitter. While there are "high CRI" Seouls, they lose a lot more output than you'd drop going from a high flux Cree to a neutral.

I know there are beamshots around here somewhere. Have to give the google thing a try on this one.

Hmm intersting. I ordered a HA-BK L4 from VTAC it has a KX2C bezel. It is supposed to be a weapon light and comes with VTAC's offset mount. We shall see.

Plenty of difference, one is a long thrower and the other is almost a total flooder (not quite like the old lux V L4, but still a flood light). If you want something in between, go with the new L5.

This is what happens when both an incomplete model number is used, and when a new model is confusingly named...
The "VTAC-L4" is not an L4 since it does not have a KL4 / KL4(A) bezel - it uses the KX2C bezel.

The VTAC-L4 can be described as a non-crenellated, single-level E2DL, or a handheld version of the M600C (this is actually more appropriate)

If the E2L has the KX2 then the E2LC would have the KX2C?
I'm not sure I like E2LC as a model number though... Is E2CL any better?

Given the VTAC-L4 is an special model offered only through Viking Tactical then it's reasonable for them to partner SureFire in the model number with 'VTAC'.
So E2L-VTAC perhaps?

All of this goes to show there is no straightforward easy name for it! :(
