E2E and a little confused...

So I just got a Satin Gray E2E. It looks like it has the old E2 head on it. It says Executive Elite on the body so I'm sure that it is an E2E. What I want to know, does it have a pyrex lense and why didn't it come with the hex bezel? I do actually like the old style bezel better.

If it's got a lexan lense, I'm supprised that the documentation that comes with it makes no mention of this.

I don't know. Maybe the hex bezel only comes with the HA finnish. If yours is the old style head then it's probably lexan. Does it have the slot on the bezel for the clip? I would really like to see a picture of it.

Sidewinder,

the SG E2e does have the Lexan lens - only the HA E2e comes with Pyrex - this is as stated by SF - regarding the hex bezel I have no idea - the pic in the 2002 cataloque does show an SG E2 with no hex bezel anyway ... I guess Al or another member of the SF gang can shed more light on this.

If the E2e-SG looks like the one in the SureFire 2002 Catalogue, then perhaps that's what it's meant to look like?

Personaly, I go for HA so my experience with SG is very limited.

I wonder if that picture at TTS is actually of the Hard Anodized version, but software-adjusted to look like the satin-grey one? May have been the case that they didn`t have a SG one on hand when taking photos for the new catalogue entries.

Remove all colour from the hard-anodised picture and they do look the same! Infact it wouldn`t surprise me if they were the exact same photo, just rotated a bit to look diferent. I can`t possibly imagine they`re out to decieve anyone, it is just probably to fill a gap on the page until a genuine photo of the SG model can be found/taken.

Hmm I have erred. If it was from us send it back and I'll send you an HA as a replacement or call me and we can work something out. Don't know why I got it in my head they looked the same.

I'd like to take a sec to mention... Every order I've made to tts has been as described, and perfection itself.

Now... As to Surefire... I can NEVER get their product line straight. 9P? 6M? E2E? E-eye-E-Eye-O?

All gibberish to moi.

,I did not get the flash light from Texas Tactical, I probably should have. I got it from a new dealer that doesn't know the product line very well yet. They are also friends of mine so I don't blame them for not knowing. My fault for not doing more research.

I'm still confused though, if my E2E has a lexan lens with older style bezel, and the new E2 has a lock out tail cap, what is the difference other then the pocket clip?

I just talked to William at TTS and he said that the new E2E SG do have a pyrex lens. So I not sure if mine does or not. I wish Surefire made things more clear.

Thanks to all that replied!

This is odd. I am looking at the box for the E2e and it has a sticker on the front that says "E2 Executive" and the photo is of an E2. Even the instruction manual (who needs that?) doesn't depict the anti-roll bezel.

I have the HA E2e, never actually seen a SG E2e

Ok, I just got off the phone with Steve from Surefire CS. He said that there was a mistake where a batch of the E2E SG when out with the hex bezel/pyrex lens. Subsequently this was corrected and now the E2E SG comes with a round bezel and a lexan lens. Another CS rep said to tap the lens to see if it sounds like glass or plastic. Sure enough mine sounds like plastic.

No wonder there is confusion, Surefire confused themselves on this one. Anyway they are going to send me a hex bezel/pyrex lens in Satin Gray. How cool is that? I'm also going to buy an E2E HA (from TTS) now that I know about the difference in finishes (I guess I"ll leave the E2E SG in the wife's car

Still, I'm not sure about the differences between the E2 and the E2E if in fact the SG version of the E2E is round bezel/lexan and the new E2 has a LOTC. I'm just happy that I'm going to have 2 E2E's just the way I want them!

Here is another question concerning Lexan vs. Pyrex. I have an E2e HA that should have a Pyrex lense. It sounds like Pyrex but it doesn't have the retaining ring on the inside of the bezel like the M2 and M3T have

So is it Pyrex or Lexan?

To avoid *further* confusion, the SG shot has been removed from the TTS site. Don't go looking all over for it like I just did. Dawned on me too late that William must have removed it to prevent potential problems...

Thanks normal for the Exe-HA.
It is Pyrex.

The end of the Exe-HA Bezel screws onto the Bezel holding in the pyrex lens (with a rubber seal on either side)

Please do not attempt to unscrew it because it is glued.

So where is the clip on the E2e SG? on the body or the head?

I'm glad I bought the H.A. version. I thought he whole point of the E2e, was the pyrex lens and the hex bezel.

Otherwise it just looks different for more $.

As far as I'm concerned, the "Elite"ness of the E2e requires the following over the E2 -

1)LOTC
2)HA
3)Pyrex Lens
4)PocketClip options
5)Anti-roll Bezel

I do not consider anything less then Hard Anodising to Military Level III to be Elite.

Al

I agree on all accounts Al.

I think somebody should go in there and make some heads roll! Tag, you're it.

Seriously, why make something called an "elite" if you can buy it without the eliteness. Especially when there already exists the non-elite version to begin with.... Sheesh.

The clip on mine is on the body and is smaller than the E2 and is also easily removable.

Wow! Who knew?

You're right of course. The only difference between a non-HA E2e and an E2 is aesthetics only? Crazy. They'd both have round bezel, plastic lense and LOTC. That's crazy even for Surefire (where they seem to pride themselves on making the same light with several different names). Now they're making *different* lights with the *same* name.
