Hello all, I guess I am truly a flashoholic.:sigh: Even after I got my 2 new Fenix lights, I still got the itch for a new light. I am think of either a E2E, or a 3 cell SureFire (like 9P or C3). My questions are:

1. How does the E2e beam compare to a G2 incan?

2. How do the P90-P91 beams compare to a G2 incan.

3. Can you easily EDC a C3, E2e, or 9P in your pocket?

4. Why am I considering another light? lol

I am not sure how long it will be before I buy one of these, but I like to be prepared. Maybe the ROP I want to build will delay the:broke:.

All around the best light Sure-Fire makes is the E2E in my opinion. I could survive fine with just E2E's. I have other Sure-Fire lights and they all have their advantages, but the E2E does 90% of what I want it to do in a compact package with a pocket clip. I hope that helps.

Im a fairly average sized guy. About 6 foot 185 lbs. That being said, I can easily edc any of my surefire lights -- all are comfortable to carry to me. I even don't mind carrying my g3 (same size as the 9p). They are all pretty small lights, IMO.

The p90 lamp throws out a brighter, whiter light than the g2's p60. Its hotspot is also very, very oval in shape. I have no experience with the p91 lamp, as I feel that the p90 is bright enough for my needs. I get about 50-55 minutes with the p90, and consider the p91 (even tho its helluva bright) and its 15-20 minute runtime too little.

If you get a Surefire, be prepared to get another. and another. and another. and another. and another. They're like crack. I had one two months ago. Now I have three. And Im about to purchase another. I can't stop. Help me ! ! :duh2:

Is the beam of the E2e geared more for spill or throw? Is the switch to 60 lumens seem any dimmer than 65 of the P-60 LA, (probably not, but no harm in asking)?

I have both the E2E and the 9P and they are great lights. I don't think it's fair to compare them because they are different model lines. The 9P is bigger and more powerful. The E2E is quite a bit smaller and lends itself well to be an every day carry, performing satisfactorily. However, I put a Lumens Factory (Lighthound) EO-E2R, 150 lumens bulb in my E2E for a fantastic performance. Also, it allows for the use of rechargeable, RCR123A batteries, which is great for an EDC. You really should plan on getting both if you like them. Be advised, in August, I didn't own a SureFire, today I own 10 of them (my first a 6P) and I'm not interested in buying anything else than SF's, for the time being. So take care that the SF bug will bite you.
Good luck, and by all means, have lots of fun, it's great.

Both light are excellent! I don't think I could choose one over the other.

So.... go buy them both and enjoy!

The 9v lights tend to have a much larger hotspot. The G2 and 6P happen to be the perfect size for me. Both choices have multiple upgrade/lego options.

Alright. Lets see if I can get this right.

SureFire E2E, about 8 feet.

SureFire C3, about eight feet.

The C3 is the lower left, the E2E is the upper right.

C3, roughly 20 yards.

SureFire E2E, roughly 20 yards.
SFC310yds.jpg

C3, roughly 10 yards.

E2E, roughly 10 yards.

They're both great lights, but I chose the E2 for EDC. The C3 was slightly too long for me to carry comfortably in the front pocket of my pants.

I believe the best solution has already been proposed: just get both. :twothumbs

Wow DieselTech, thanks! I think that answers my question, it looks like the difference between the 2 is not as much as I expected (as far as beam goes), I think in the next few weeks I may have a new addition to my collection...:D The evening after my original post I got a $25 gift card to Bass Pro Shops, so that will take the sting out of it a little. I hope the Bass Pro near me has one.

hard to tell if those pictures are done with the same f/stop and exposure settings... and the shot of them together is so overexposed they both appear nearly equally bright... which is of course not true. But, it's definitely a good guideline to get an idea....

My personal recommendation, is always to go with "C" compatible lights when you are debating between C and E series lights, UNLESS compact size is of great importance to you. The C series lights open up a HUGE arsenal of lego and drop-ins and lamp assemblies and rechargeable configurations, and turbo heads, and extensions, etc etc etc.... the E series is great, but more limited in customizations.

For this light size would be important; I was just considering a 3 cell anyways. This light may serve as my third EDC light, or just general purpose.

I do have to agree with SF people, the warranty and quality are worth the price, even if an incan is less efficient than LEDs. Not that I don't love my LEDs, but you can never have to many SFs.

You may have to try several until you find one that you like. If you have a place nearby to do this, that may be the best. What I have found with Surefires is that I research all of the specifications, user reviews, beamshots, etc. But it really comes down to what is comfortable in my hand. I have an early C3, a 6P, a G2, and a couple M3s right now and they all feel comfortable in my hand. I've had a later C3 and a C2 and they just did not feel comfortable so I sold them. I tried the E2D and it was comfortable but a little small, still not bad. Unless you are using the light(s) for tactical or long-range spotting use you may not really get much advantage from a 3-cell over a 2-cell. If you will be using a drop-in LED however you should gain a lot of run-time by going with 3 cells instead of 2.

By the way, the P91 lamp kicks ***. Its got mega-spill and throw, but it also sucks a lot of juice. Unless you don't mind buying a LOT of batteries, I'd recommend running this off of a couple 18650/17670/18500 L-ion batteries. I ran one off of 2 18650s for a while and the thing is searingly bright in a small package, but it is expensive if you go the Leef body route, which will be $70 for the tube, plus whatever it costs for a Surefire head and tailcap.

Whatever route you take, the good news is that if you end up not liking it you can usually sell Surefire stuff for about what you paid for it if you keep it in good condition.

for duty, I use a 9P and love it. all of my guys always are amazed at the light output/throw of this little light. Just wish it would last longer than an hour on a set of 3 batteries...

Truer words never typed. Rechargeable set ups are expensive initially, but I think mine has payed for itself by now. The thing about "guilt free" lumens, is you tend to use more often.

I have yet to own a 3 cell SF light, but I don't think you can consider youreself a true flashaholic without owning an E2E!! I think the balance for size, beam quality and runtime, is just about perfect! Very easy to EDC, and still built like a tank!!!
But, you should buy them both, try them out and keep the one you like the best:naughty:

I wish I could buy them both right now, but I don't want to spend that much at one time. I am going to buy a few LF LAs as well. One for my G2, and the 110 lumen for the E2e. I know it probably won't be any brighter, but its supposed to be really white, and a spare never hurts.

My rechargeable setup has more than payed for itself. Like 100 times over probably. And you never have that guilty feeling while using your lights. I always hated to carry around half dead batteries too. And your lights are brighter!!

A set of AW batteries and charger runs about the same as a pack of CR123's at the sporting goods store. Trust me, you'll enjoy your lights ALOT more. Before I went rechargeable I barely ever used my lights. How silly is that, right?

Where can I find AW's batteries and chargers?

Love my E2e, if I could only have one incan I think this would be it. I carry my E2d more often, but that's for personel reasons.

C3 has is a very flexible package, gets even more flexible once you start using all the Lumens Factory options that are available.

Either you will love, so purchase with confedence and enjoy!!! :p
