PJS,

For starters, if you order on line, make sure you are ordering what you want. The part numbers can be very confusing; witness your subject title. There is the E2 executive (E2) and the E2 executive elite (E2e). I speak from experience on on line ordering!

As to lens replacement, in the E2, the Lexan is pressed in and must deform for the press in fit. You can't replace it with glass. The E2e has pyrex with anti-reflective coating and can be removed if one is careful but I can't imagine why one would want to replace it unless it was cracked. I have found that upon removal, if it wasn't cracked to start with, it is after.

I think Lambda is the expert at successful removal.

EDIT: Oops, my bad. I think maybe you are referring to HA vs SG (Satin Grey)?

One I saw was definety an Executive Elite HA badass light. The other was rather blueish or MAYBE gray, without a Hex Bezel, and with a clip that was screwed to the bezel.

Both said lock out tail cap. I don't have any significant problem with a non glass lense, but again it is the ONLY reason I'd get an HA over a satin gray (or blue or whatever non HA).

PJS,
I have an E2e HA and a E1 in SG. I like the hex bezel to keep the light from rolling and the clip for the E2e HA. The E1 is for finishing off 123 batteries at home now. The size of the E2 series lights lends itself to EDC in the back pants pocket or jacket pocket. It is bigger in diameter than the Gag 2 AA and feels better weighted in the hand. I think you would really like these lights. If I was to buy one today, I would still choose the E2e HA.

Playboy, not all clips on the Ex series are "screwed" in. Mine is on with a rivet, so if you decide to take the clip off...

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">The screw-attached removeable clip was only available for a short period and was then discontinued. You can only get the riveted version now, unless someone has back stock.

See Al's (Size 15s) more complete explanation in this thread.

if you get the E2e, make sure to check it for a leaky lens seal prior to using it....best not to have any surprises at a bad time.

The very first E series came with rivoted PocketClips (such as my E1-GM, and E2-HA).
Then SureFire experiemented with a screwed version (like my other E2-HA) but found that putting them together was difficult because there wasn't enough bite. Also, users removing and re-installing the clips found that the screws dethreaded easily and the hex "Alans" rounded out.
So it went back to (and has since remained) rivoted (like my E1-BK).

nihraguk,
Good advice, before needing to rely on any tool or device etc, it's best to try them out to gauge whether the performance meets requirements and to make sure it is fit for purpose.
With WeaponLights for example, putting a few sets of batteries through a lamp at the range and during traininf will quickly test whether the lamp is stable, and whether it can do the job you need it to.
Using a rechargeable flashlight a few times tests whether it can hold it's charge for duty use or whatever.

I would expect SureFire to replace any SureFire I have that leaks when it reasonably shouldn't.

The whole E series is confusing.
..>E2 has a round body, and round head with the clip attached to the head. Lexan lens.

..>E2e has a milled body, hex head, Pyrex lens, with the clip fitted to the body.

..>E2e-GM has the milled body, with the clip fitted into the body like the E2e, but it has the E2 head assembly (minus the pocket clip)and a lexan lens. This is my favorite of the three, as I like the clip, and I like the smooth round head assembly.

In looking at brightguys site I see the two lights I'm talking about.

NOW. It looks like if I ever want to get a KL1 I have to get an E2E Executive - HA. Is this gospel, or is it possible to KL1 an E2.

And incidently, the E2 locally is $69.95 at Gun Collectors on Richmond. On Brightguy it is $71.95... I am AMAZED at this, as GC ain't EVEN the cheapest place in town on ANYTHING! I can't remember what the E2E was at GC, but it's only roughly 9 bucks more than the E2 at Brightguy.

I got a chance to see both side by side today. The prices were such that mail ordering looks like the ONLY way to get one.

Anyhow, in looking at the two models, I find the plain E2E to be a better looking light. For my probable use, I only see the Pyrex lense as something better on the more expensive Elite. The clip, non hex bezel etc. are just cleaner looking.

Therefore, if I was to get a plain E2E, could I put in a better lense? Could I use a KL on the plain E2?

I don't know why I would get one anyway, except I don't own a Surefire. My Madmaxed M!n! M*g is a damn usefull light!

Anyhow I'd love to hear your thoughts!

The KL1 fits any E-series lite, including the E2. It may not match them all for color but it will physically fit them all.

yup....just that if you get the E2 you won't have a pocketclip after installing the KL bezel. the E2 might even be a wiser choice even, considering that you won't get the O-ring squeeze problems that the E2e has. just make sure to test the E2e or E2 you get an the led bezel you get for water-resistance before using them

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Al, thanks for that E2 history. I'll correct my error after posting this.
