It kind of depends on how long your walks are and how much throw you need. If all you need is a hundred yards or so of throw this light is great beyond description. I just love the tint and light this thing puts out.

Although I have taken this light out for extended walks, I mostly did it to check out the light itself. It is a soup can light and so it is fat. It is also fairly heavy. It weighs 1.25 pounds. So I would say it is not the ideal light for long walks but it is not unbearable either.

I would say it is more of an in and around the house flashlight and an in and around the campsight flashlight, with tail standing and ceiling bouncing being its greatest strengths. It would also probably make a decent flashlight to keep in the car(with diffuser).

There doesn’t’ seem to be a lot of excitement for this light. To tell you the truth, the wow factor on this flashlight didn’t knock my socks off when I first unpackaged it, but as time goes by, the sum of its parts are really impressing me. The build quality, feel in the hand and anodizing seem very good. Eagletac has really stepped up its workmanship from a few years ago.

I have got an update on the lockout situation that I had mentioned earlier. I was playing around with this light and thought I would check out its lockout capabilitoes again and found that it would lock out by loosening the tailcap one and a half turns. This is much better, and actually very acceptable, especially while packing it and wanting to prevent accidental activation.

I was puzzled for a while on why it is now locking out and was kind of questioning my original analysis. I then realized that I am now using different batteries than I was originally using. The shorter batteries that I am now using are 18650 LG INR18650MJ1 3500mAh High discharge flat tops. They are 65.25mm. The cells that I had in it originally are 66.60mm. So there you have it, short batteries will give you acceptable physical tailcap lockout capabilities

I definitely do not have buyers remorse on this light. I think a person probably needs to have an acquired taste for neutral tint and flood to appreciate it.

It is an amazing like. I like it a lot more than the Noctigon M43 I had. That light was more impressive on paper, but just generated too much heat and was almost too short to hold comfortably. That said, I am still selling my MX30L4XC since it's just overkill for me. I honestly think I'm done with the "pop can" style lights.

I posted a review here on the Amazon product page. I like this new MX30L4XC Nichia 219B model so much, I bought 4 of them (one mounted on the wall by the back door, one on my desk, and one in my car glovebox and my wife's car). The UI is much improved. This is truly the most practical flashlight I've ever owned.

There is speculation over on the Meteor M43 thread that the Fenix AOD-L diffuser would fit it. Which probably means that it would fit the MX30L4XC. I haven't ordered one yet, but will. It would add a little diversity to the Eagletac. Especially if you have four.

I tried the included kit diffuser but it doesn't make a noticeable difference, since the MX30L4XC is already smooth and floody. It is good as a "room light" - stand it on its tail on a low setting, and the entire room is like there's a little bit of daylight.

Yeah, the supplied diffuser is pretty worhtless. I have one. The Fenix one would turn your light into a tailstanding lantern.

It still may not be something you are interested in. Here is a link for those that might be. Fenix AOD-L

I received the Fenix AODL diffuser about a week ago. I like it.

At first it was tough to get it to go on. I have left it on for about a week and now it is a lot easier to attach but stays on nice and tight.

Im looking to buy one of these lights, but it seems like there aren't many reviews or threads about this light. It seems like its super nice, I have a few Eagletac products and I think they are great quality. What is going on here?

I really want a high lumen light with a tint like this.

I think there aren't many reviews because it's not a terribly popular light. When it comes to 'soda can' lights, there are other options that are either cheaper with the same output or cost about the same with more output. And while they certainly can't touch the MX30L4XC when it comes to color rendition, many people don't care a great deal about this. Especially if they just want a super bright light to impress their friends with.

On the other hand, if you want a light with this kind of output and tint, there really aren't many other options. As far as I know, the only other option is the Noctigon Meteor with Nichia 219 emitters. There's also the Eagletac MX25L3C. But it is considerably less bright. I would personally take the MX30L4XC over a Meteor.

Thanks for your input. I went and ordered one to see myself (because I loved my zeberalight sc62w so much). I got jt last night and I love it. Its an awesome light, because of the great quality and tint. I kinda like the interface as well.

Crappy cell phone pics. That tree is about 100 ft and the tree line is about 150. I can definitely see that tree line much better in person.

I've been debating whether I should get this light myself. So on Wednesday, I made the drive to Illumination Supply to pick it up. As you say, it's a GREAT light. Almost like having a portable high CRI street light. I have to admit that I wish it had a handle so that it could be carried like an old school 6V lantern. But strangely enough, it feels like it might be MORE ergonomic than my MX25L3C.
