@lebox97

Tod, are you able to request this light (or drop-in) with a SFT40 5000K emitter?

@Lips

I sure don't know, but you're asking the right party. If you don't get a quick response, you might find it better to submit that question via the web contact form, or to [email protected]. Those always gets me a quick response. I'm not sure about via CPF.

My new P200 LR is available w/ that emitter, so it's entirely possible the model you mention might also be, as a 'special order'. Some of my ETs were ordered exactly that way (as special order). Good luck!

.

He was active yesterday, giving him a little adver!

How do you like your P200 LR? Which emitter did you get?

I have been wanting to try the twist head to change output levels for a while now... $99.90 seems high but changing levels without bumping a switch looks like a winner...

The PRO model puts out allot of power. I have the SFT40 5000 in his Sportac V2 drop-in inside a Malkoff MD2. The turbo is a monster!

Mine has the 519A 4500K. I'm liking it a lot. The output pattern is of course a bit different from the majority of my lights using 'conventional' reflectors, as expected - but I'm finding it very useful in practice. Its LED:OTF ratio is also pretty high, so there's little optical waste / inefficiency, which doesn't hurt. I'd 'buy it again tomorrow if I lost mine today'. It's also likely the shortest 1x18650 light I have w/ a 'proper' switch, and that too is a +.

Regarding the interface: Historically, I generally avoid all rotational interfaces w/ flashlights, as most I find fundamentally flawed, and I did not really expect to like it much. I tried my first one (also ET) primarily to get the emitter it featured, and figured I'd try the interface too. I think the P200LR is my third ET light using that specific control interface. Clearly I was surprised, and have found it to be an excellent and very practical control interface in actual real world use, and the more I use them, the more I like them. I still can't imagine another rotational control I would like, but this is the exception. The old dog can still learn a new trick, and this is a good example;-) Lesson: As long as I'm still breathing, I need to keep an open mind. The configurable level for two of those output settings is also a big +.

I must also say that now having more ET lights than I ever would have anticipated, I believe every one of them is worth what I paid for them. They may all die tomorrow, but so far, they have been a good value (from my perspective). Add to that having the advantage of the best distributor support I think one could find for lights from a non-U.S.-based manufacturer, that has contributed to my satisfaction. A direct e-mail always gets me a very fast response.

That light you're considering seems to be a very nice design for a $100 TAC light.

Hi guy's.
almost all EagTac models use the same mode changing UI ~
head tight is always max/turbo,
head slight loose drops a level,
head slight more loose (approx 1/2 turn from full tight to loose) drops another level...
most models have three levels from head twist UI, some have have 4 levels, some have 2 (the reverse clicky standard D series)
= very easy predictable and reliable UI, you will always know what level the light will start up on before switching ON (head tight, slight loose, 1/2 turn loose).
(a few other ET models have head switch button/s offering similar UI = always start on MAX, or low via switch button)

The T25C2 price is higher than other models due to the replaceable LED module/extra pieces n parts needed to manufacture.
There are other ET models available with same LED and/or higher output for less money than T25C2. (ie the ONLY advantage of T25C2 is the user replaceable LED modules ~ if you are not needing/plan to swap out LEDs ~ other models will be the better less expensive choice).

Most folks now go the "rechargeable" route. ie lights that include battery and built-in charging circuit in head, using a USB cable for easy battery top ups without removing battery.

check out D-series, P-series, T-Series rechargeable models.

Cheers
Tod

Tod with IlluminationGear steered me to the Model T25L-R MKII (Here) instead of my first pick in first post.

Head rotation for 3 output levels (Low - Med - Max), USB charging and Tactical Forward Clicky including Momentary with Programmable Tailcap Strobe and Battery Level Report System.

Having EagleTac custom install a SFT40 - 5000K Emitter, as it normally doesn't come with this emitter.

Cool! I hope you'll share some initial thoughts / impressions on this after you get it in hand and have a chance to push the button a few times!;-)

The T25L-R MKII (Here) above light special order with SFT40 5000k emitter still being built.

Mechanical Twist the head for Low -High-Max. USB built into light.

Momentary and lock on tail switch with instant strobe. USB built into light under twist cover.

Powerful LED with the unique Mechanical UI and 33mm deep reflector.

Tod at illuminationgear got a direct hit with the hurricane in Florida which slowed the process down.

Hoping this light is a nice powerful tactical thrower.

For me it is too confusing at their website, with all the series, then trying to figure out specifics in the drop down. They should have a summary page of the basics of the similar series compared in terms of lumens, throw, size, battery type. Something like Fenix where you can then drill down. https://www.fenixlighting.com/collections/flashlights

I understand. I'm on my 12th(?) state now, so I'm keenly aware that many things are regional. CT might as well be light years from MS, so I 'get it', far better than the average bear. You will likely find acceptable uses for the product.

I was confused also but I have around 5 of their Sportac V2 dropins for Malkoff's and Surefire 6P's. Very powerful with the SFT-40 5000K emitter.

I don't have a tactical style light that you can control the output by manually turning the head for Low - High - Max. Really what I was after in trying this style out. I do have a Nitecore SRT7i that has an infinite brightness setting at the tailcap.

Made an offer today on ebay for the Acebeam Defender P16 Maratac ODG Splash with the SFT-40 6000K emitter. $50 new on the way.

Sportac V2 dropins

I recently received my fist of these, and am quite favorably impressed - so much so I'll likely post about it elsewhere. It's an absolutely righteous example of an SST-20 R9 Hi CRI 4000K. I don't think I could be happier with it, and I see it taking up permanent residence in the light (Elzetta Bravo) I swapped it into. It's exactly what I hoped it would be, and significantly more to my personal liking than what it replaced (which is also an SST-20 by the way).

I've been away from the industry interest for some years now, but still loving my EagTac D-series lights.

Good to see that EagTac is still producing nice quality lights! If I didn't already have WAY too many flashlights, I'd be adding a new D25C with Nichia 519A 4500 emitter to my stable.

I like how you can program the V2: Turbo or High or Single Mode...

Could improve by getting rid of the Ribs and adding a little weight for better contact and wrap in a 6P etc.

I understand, but will only 'spill the beans' (at the risk of being burned at the stake here) and say that an M61N is the module this new one is replacing, for at least 4 other reasons. Your suggestions are probably valid, but in this case, it's all about available options and priorities (as usual). BTW, both of my little field test runs of the Sportac have been in 3-digit temps, and following that, I don't expect to have any thermal issues with the current setup as installed. That said, ICBW, as thermal dynamics is not in 'my lane'. It would be a bit of a pain if I were swapping modules regularly in that light, but as I said, something tells me I won't be doing that unless/until the thing blows up;-)

It is worth noting that the Sportac draws 2.91 A @ startup, whereas the M61N draws .96 (in keeping with its proportionately higher output of 780 peak lumens [EDIT: I'm not using the 2x 'overdrive' mode options, and don't plan to]), so there's some power being used here, and therefore I'll continue to note the temps. I'm not going to try to reverse engineer the Sportac, only test and evaluate it on its merits. If I get any deeper it would feel like my 'work' to me, and then I'd have to pay myself, and I can no longer afford my rates;-)

I'd probably be remiss if I didn't mention that my M61N is not going away or being set aside. It now resides happily in an MD2, where I'm sure it will still be used. It is also a good and useful product, even though the Sportac is a better fit for my specific needs in the particular light it's in. I don't want to imply that one is inherently superior to the other; they're just different. Horses for courses and tools for jobs.

I've had Malkoff's for a little over a year. Traded for my first MD2 with M61. Like the system but did not like the LED in it. I think it has a sst20 at 5700K. Looked washed out at night and green. Bought a new M61 SHO. Hated it, same LED, just brighter and sent it back for credit! I remember someone saying please get rid of that Real of LED's and get some 519a's or something better. Comparing side by side with a 519a it was an easy decision! I'm not buying another until Gene upgrades to a better LED! He did send me an email asking why I returned it and I explained...

He does offer a 4000K high CRI SST-20 in some models that looks pretty nice.

I also have 'too many lights', but thought this one might be something special w/ that LED. I bought one in Jan., and it is. It's now one of my 2 favorite 'small' lights, and is used every day. So, it's not just 'another' light, it's turned out to be a 'favorite'. Sometimes I guess wrong, but this time I guessed right;-) My other favorite D25C has a beautiful example of an SST-20 I've been using for a year or so, and it's the other one that I use every day. They are 2 of my better purchases.

Between the 519A 4500 and the SST-20 4000, can you describe the difference between them, in use?
