With the recent sales of the eos on marketplace, I thought some might find this interesting. Decided to turn my eos into a mule-inspired headlamp. got some Q5 cree stars from DX and some copper pennies(pre 1982). artic aluminum epoxy five or six pennies together and them epoxy the stack under the star. so easy to do and lights up your entire field of vision.

A most excellent mod Pumaman  a flood beam like the ZL H50
..... i had considered doing similar to my Apex, but
instead of 1 star, i was going to try 3 emmiters, [since it runs 3 watts]
it would need a solid cylindrical aluminum spacer to conduct any heat back to the heat sink ....
...... so a `tri cree Apex`, would it be worth it? have i overlooked anything?
would 2 be a better option?

How about this if you want three LEDs.

hey hendo!

after walking around, I really think more than one bare cree driven around 350mah is overkill. I can see a use in 1 flood and 1 or 2 reflectored crees, seperately operated.
the search for perfection continues....😉

Cool. I've done that to a couple headlights of mine, too. They're great for walking my dog at night, since he tries to catch any shiny spot (laser, throwy flashlight beam, reflection of sunlight, etc.) that he sees.

@ Nitroz, thanks for the link mate,VERY nice but eww! ... 40 bucks for the 10-3, LINK
are they series linked? as the stated Vf is 9.45
anyway 3 x Q5 from the group buy = $24 ....:thumbsup:thanks Erasmus

@ Pumaman, i should have said that my Apex is taped to the front of my Marin mountain bike handlebar stem...............
its a great light, got a blinky mode, high/low, waterproof, just needs a bit more of a kick, of the floody type😀 ......
anybody know/educated guess at the current on high to the luxeon ????
