Answer all or any...how do the three brightness levels compare to a Photon 3`s? How do you change the batts and is it likely to retain it`s water resistance after changings? How easy is it to disconect the main body from the clip loop...will it snap apart easy in your pocket...when you don`t want it to? Is it, although larger than a Photon, comfortable in the pocket? Does the switch feel good when changing levels...nice clicking feel or soft with no click? My understanding is it always starts on high...is this correct or does it remember the last setting? Are there any reveiws up yet on this light? Who is the current low cost leader (where can I get them cheap)?

Well, duo to the overwhelming responces /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/twak.gif...I have decided there was only one course of action. So I ordered one. Find out for myself. Sure hope I`m not throwing my money down the drain.

Well, I *have* the Eclipse, but I haven't even taken it out of the package yet, let alone reviewed this light. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
I've got a couple of lights ahead of it, but I'll eventually get it on the website. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I have two of them. I don't have a Photon III.

Brightness compared to my other 2016 keychain lights is equal in brightest level, and the other levels are good if less is needed. The strobe speeds are fine, slow and fast. Starts on high, next press is medium level, next is low level, next is slow strobe, next is fast strobe, next is off. If you wait around 2 seconds after pressing the button (on whatever mode you're on), it will turn off. So you won't have to cycle through the other modes before it goes off.

I haven't changed batteries yet, so don't have the scoop on that. Looks to be easier than the Photon and probably even the Inova. I'm sure water resistance should be same after change.

The main light part attaches and comes off the clip with a noticable 'click' so you know it's happened. It fastens on pretty tight. In the pocket, it feels good since it is flat with rounded corners. I'm sure a pretty good bump on the leg could separate the clip from the light, along with the bruise on your leg.

There is a soft touch to the switch, that doesn't mean it would come on easy, but the switch feels good to me.

All in all, I really like the ones I have. I got one with a red case, and one with a blue case. It looks like anywhere you find them they're going to be about $15, but you'd want to get other stuff, because shipping will be added on. If you wanted to try one of mine, I could save you the shipping charge, at least. Both of mine are new. Search on Google or whereever, perhaps you could find them cheaper, but from what I found, $15 + shipping is what they're going for.

Hi Craig, let me take a moment to say I`m thrilled to see you back on the job and doing well. I`ve been neglecting this place for sometime now as I have been spending a great deal of time at my mothers home...come back here to cut the grass and check for water leaks...collect a little rent. But I`m back in the saddle again...still broke...but back.

"Still haven`t taken it out of the package yet" Alright, guess it`s just another 2016 batt light...boring. And what about the streamlight Key Mate? I know these are all cheap little lights but thats all I can afford to play with. There are 24 hours in a day...take a few away for eating, bathroom breaks, and an ocasional ball game and...well lets try to get these reveiws up by tonight. I figure one per hour x 20. LOL, great to hear from you🙂

Thanks for the responce Orion. I order mine from Bright guys...they are selling them for $11.60?? well, I think thats what it was...and $3.85 for the shipping (priority...called on the phone and asked for that type of shipping). They are out of the Streamlight Key Mate or I would have order that too and saved some on the shipping. I have Photon 3`s and like them pretty well...but switching the modes sounds like it might be better on the Eclipse (I could do without the flash modes). Thanks again for the responce.

Thanks for the welcome back, it's much appreciated!!!
I can't see worth a crap out of one eye, and I can no longer touch-type to save my happy @$$, but I'm back!!!

That bottom paragraph you wrote is funny, LOL!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I'm *still* working on getting the Inretech violet LED adapter up, I guess I don't work as fast as I used to. 😛
I bumped the Eclipse up near the head of the line, but there are still a couple of other lights I need to get done first.

I got a ticket for the April 8th Seattle Mariners baseball home opener (an afternoon game), guess I won't be reviewing too many lights or LEDs that day. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Good pricing, KenB! I forgot about Brightguy.com. He usually has some good prices. I hope you like yours! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm working on the Eclipse review myself - just happened to be next in line... Sounds like in a day or 2 you'll be able to compare notes with Craig and myself.

Battery compartment water resistance is friction based - "soft" (not rigid) plastic cover snaps into place - no o-ring, but the plastic is a little rubbery

It doesn't snap apart easily, you have to give it a good twist.

no Photon 3 for comparison

switch clicks with setting changes

Switch should not come on by accident unless something presses IN on the switch. Pressing the switch against a flat surface won't turn it on.

Does not remember last setting

Smooth ergo shape fits good in the pocket by itself, may be a little awkward on a keychain.

Thanks Doug, sounds a little like the Photon 3 batt cover...think it might have been Craig that compared it to Rubbermaid...the lid snaps in tight. But not sure what you mean by the twist part. Guess I`ll find out soon as Craig and you do the reveiws /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The Key Mate looks good too...real cute...my wife saw it and wants one (black). But I read some concerns regarding the ease with which the head comes off. Remember when the Arc AAA first came out...several members lost the heads while pulling keys out of their pockets. Luckily Gransee replaced them. But I question whether Streamlight would be as willing to offer that level of service. Perhaps a little teflon tape would help (same as it did on the Arcs) but...

Look forward to your reveiw /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well, as for the Eclipse being waterproof - it ain't.

It should survive a quick dunk or rain, but don't leave it underwater or operate it underwater.

Mine is drying out under a high intensity lamp right now...

Thanks Doug, great reveiw. A little disapointing regarding the waterproofness. I have a Photon 3 wide beam (no you read that right...wide beam) and it leaks also...even just taking a shower with it around my neck...ruins the batts... Rust. Of course I don`t do that any more /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well lets see here...same power as a Pocketbright on medium (12)...and I will guess it`s about the same as an Infinity on low. I`m not sure what the Photons put out on low...but I wish it was a tad brighter. This might be. And I think the mode switching does sound better.

Did you test the off after 7 minutes feature? Does it do this in all modes...low for example? Overlooking the larger size (with the clip attached) I think this might be a good contender to the Photon 3...if they had gone with slightly larger batts...in keeping with the larger case (2025`s maybe)...I think they would have been the clear winner.

I would love to see someone come out with a 2032`s batt light...with one batt in front of the other instead of stacked, with these mode features...this would keep it thin...comfortable in the pocket...with a longer run time.. I had dicussed this with both LRI (Photon) and Eternalight companies about a year ago and both companies told me they "already had these in the works". I thought the new 2 led light just coming out from Eternalight was going to be based on this concept...but alas...no...three AAA batts. Oh well, maybe someday /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Something like this? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Eon Card Light

Unfortunately this one has no different modes, and even a battery change isn't possible... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Ahh...no way...to wide...to long...but...well nice try Bart /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/twak.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

I got my Eclips today...great delivery time. First impressions are...(not a reveiwer, take with salt) very, very nice. While the high setting is as expected (just another 2016 batt powered light...bright, but nothing to write your moma about) the differant light level funtions seem much tighter than the Photon 3...much brighter on low level (I assume it will kill the batts faster on the lower levels, no free meal)...able to light my shed...about 30 feet away (on low...not brilliant at all...but notacibly brighter than than the Photon). The switch controls are great...beats the Photons....and the switch itself feels very nice too. I would love to see some run time charts against a Photon and even a Arc on the lower power settings, but that not going to happen...it shuts off in every mode after 7 or so minutes. Makes me wonder what they were thinking with the blink levels (you know...bleeding to death on a mountain top and the last act you do is switch to blink mode before you pass out). I would rather have had two more light levels. Still, sillyness aside, I think I am going to love these lights.

Would I rather spend my money on this over a Photon 3??? If your key chain has a little more space...or if you are going to wear this around your neck...I think I would. The switching and tighter levels win in my book. It`s seem like a real sweet light and feels good in the hand. I might change my mind down the road...if the switch proves to be less than dependable...but it feels like it will be.
