For those of you that EDC on your belt, what is your light and why; what is your holster and why?

How did you decide to go to belt carry vs pocket, keychain, etc.?

I think I want to carry this way, but want feedback from those with more experience!

As I am suited and booted for work,I carry an ITP A3 in my shirt pocket as I find that easier and is bright enough for my needs. In the evening I wear a lanyard.

When I go out to follow my passion of Rallying in dark forests,I carry something bigger in a holster clipped to my keks(trousers)

I use an iTP SA2 in the holster it came with when I'm night fishing .
Mainly because I use it in a momentary fashion to light up channel markers and canals and the holster allows for easy deployment and stowage.
I also never carry anything in my pockets . To clarify , my pocket knife ( a Gerber Vallotton ) is clipped . My backup light ( iTP A3 ) is on a neck lanyard . My pliers are also belt clipped . I don't like digging in pockets with fishy , wet hands. I wear an LED cap for general illumination .

By the way , the SA2 is by far my favorite light .
And the holster it came with is excellent .

I EDC a Milky modded E1L on a steel wire rope lanyard and carabiner in my pocket. On my belt when working, a Malkoff MD3 w/M61, with a Nite-Ize stretch holster. I've also got a EZAA tucked into the holster for my swiss army knife, as it fit so nicely alongside it.

Looking at the list looks mostly overkill, but then I do work in dark places most of the time, so I suppose it's warranted.

My light: high CRI Ra Clicky.
Why? Because it's an awesome light, built solid with a great interface, and the high CRI color rendering is wonderful.

My holster: Maxpedition 4" Flashlight Sheath (with a slight "modification")
Why? Because the Ra Clicky doesn't come with a holster, and Maxpedition seem to have a good reputation for ruggedness. I also like the square bottom design of the holster. Plus I think it looks cool.

I chose holster carry because the Clicky is just slightly too big to carry comfortably in the pocket.

every day. on my belt holster on weak hand side: a tactical model 47s Quark AA. (many reasons but mostly because of the momentary button and its still programmable if needed for other outputs) most often i use it when i need to get a flashlight in my hand fast. when i need high output. (its the one with li-ion.. other AA/AAA lights i carry at the same time have nimh)

the ones in my pocket are slower to take out into action. (right hand pocket has a knife clipped.. so left side pocket might carry a flashlight.. but its somehow imprinted into my muscle memory to reach for the holster.

and i discovered this fact just few days ago.. tuesday to be exact. i changed pants in a hurry and forgot to attach the flashlight holster to my left hip as i ran the belt thru.. and all day i kept grabing air when i tried to pull a light.. i did have one clipped into left pocket (zebralight sc50). and one dangling inside rightside (a twisty that needs 2 hands to operate) the single hand operation of clicky in holster is important if you only have one hand free and momentary i find using alot.

i could carry: mg l-mini II (i did last winter so i might do so again) fenix tk11 has seen some belt holster duties (but lately mostly only when i have gone out to forest or boat trips etc wilderness action as its a bit heavy side to carry all day every day. i prefer to carry 2-3 smaller lights instead of one big..backups u see.)

i do carry 2-3 other lights on me anyways. small twisties or reverse clikies. (preon1, lummi raw, itp a3, 47s miniAA. or zebralights sc50, h501 for more special tasks.. i have atleast one that can tailstand with me as the quark tactical cant. )

hmm..still looking for nice 1AAA or 2AAA with momentary tactical light.. a quark tactical AAA/2AAA would be nice hhahaha.

I carry my Zebralight H501 on my belt all the time. I have about 6 flashlights. I carry the H501 because it is the most useful light I have. All my long tools are carried horizontally so they are not in the way and let me have room to bend over, crouch, squat, etc.

This picture doesn't show it, but I carry it in a small phone case now.

Work in industry (pulp & paper), jeans, steel toe shoes. On my belt; cell phone (used to be a radio), flashlight, keys & small laser pointer, camera.

Light today is a Milky L1 "Arnor" in a ripoffs holster.
In my back pocket (it's a bit uncomfortable) is a 6P with a M2 head (M2 SST-50). Often I have a 6P in a conceleco holster (very low profile - not sure if it's spelled right). The 6P usually has a Moddoo triple in it for a dropin (LOTS of light).

Some days it's a McGizmo - Haiku or PD XP-G in a AOTH holster (art of the hide - very classy).

When I carry a light on the belt lately, I have been using a 1AA Inova X1 or Leatherman LGX200 (aka Fenix L1T v2) in a leather Mini Maglite holster. A spare battery is held on the side of the holster by a section of bicycle inner tube.

I like this holster because it holds the light close to my body (unlike the NiteIze Stretch holster), is compact, looks good and does not use Velcro.

I remember the first light I bought that came with its own holster - an Inova X5 (version 2 - with the fluting not the flats) - and this dult stayed at my side until I discovered something else - can't remember what.

For ages I had My round bodied SF 6P kept in a Swiss Army knife holster - I had to cut the flap off the holster and the light only stayed in head down - it would fall out if inverted, but I was always conscious that it was there - obsessed I suppose. I thought I had lost this 6P when the light was gone one day - but luckily it had only fallen out in the bathroom whilst I was changing - the 6p rolled under the water heater and I found it ( still working) about two to three years later!!! Gawd bless SF and the ubiquitous CR123A ( Panasonics I believe).

I've dabbled with various clips and holsters and sheaths over the years - from Fenixes to Maglites with a dose of knife holsters here and there.

Nowadays I've reverted to what works best for me. That same old Surefire 6P - battered and scarred through use ( It is about twenty five years old after all ) - it now carries a Malkoff M61 drop in - no levels, no fuss k.i.s.s - and a AW17670. All this resides in a standard Surefire V16 leather holster. Simply the best holster I've had. Secure and quick to use.

Exactly what I need for my belt mounted EDC.

Of course I still have dreams of carrying a larger torch "lightsaber' style, but as yet I don't think I'm old enough to carry that off!

Looking forward to seeing what everyone else does.

9P rides in this, not quite an EDC, but i am carrying it a lot. it will also carry my M4 or Ultrastinger
Its been rebuilt maybe 3 times, tightened, loosened and tightened again, it started out holding a Stinger XT a few years ago
Completely hand built, it has had the Velcro on the back replaced twice too

I alternate between a 6P In a surefire holster on my weak side and an E2e clipped in the wrench pocket of my carpenter jeans...

Why you ask... When I'm working the holster is the easiest way to carry but when I'm not working my wife doesn't care for the batman look.

Thanks. Mine are homemade. I have made some changes since. The batteries are now stored in an all metal smalls can. I put the H501 in a phone case along with Mace. I have replaced the Velcro closure in the Juice S2 sheath with a button type closure. I still need to find a black phone case to match the belt. The setup is still very discreet and comfortable enough to sleep on my back, workout in the gym with, or go to a meeting without looking like a Maytag repairman or light Rambo.

RA clicky 170 in a Ripoff holster. Works well, I only carry it when I leave town or doing something at night in town, but away form home. I carry my LDO1 all the time in my pocket, even when I am carrying my RA.

I carry my Quark 123 Turbo flat tail with a Nite Ize stretch holster. Good fit and I like the adjustable clip for hands free lighting.

I carry a RA Twisty 85Tr every work day on my belt. I carry it in a leather holster made by Thor's Hammer/Dan who is a CPF member and very talented leather maker. I chose the light because of it's simple UI, rugged build and outstanding CS and warranty. I chose the custom holster as I wanted it to ride high on my belt, be secure and carry a spare battery.

I wear it on my belt simply because I don't like things in my pockets and it's very easy to access from the holster. I work in construction, moving and driving a lot, and with the light in my pocket it binds on my leg. Also when greasy/dirty I don't want to reach into my pockets for the light. With the holster I don't even know I have the light on my belt. I wouldn't carry it any other way.

Here is my EDC setup. Some of this is more than you asked, but this is all tied together so here we go.

First- Glock 26 Bladetech IWB its about 5 years old this model has been discontinued it will also fit a G30, G21, G19 pretty much any Glock, absolutly love it.

Next, RA Every Day Carry Tactical 120L in a holster made for HDS by Bladetech. The holster was $50 a little on the high side but I really like it. I wear the gun on my right and light on my left
