Okay, I can see I'm plainly in the minority for not liking a tailcap switch, but I'm old and us old guys get stuck in our ways. Its not a problem for a thrower, but I haven't seen any on a nice edc.

I've noticed in the past that most people used to like tailcap switches the most, now the trend in preferences seems to be more toward side-clickies again. I would think there will be more side-clickies coming out soon.

I think tailcaps are nice when you have a short light, but if they get too small I prefer twisty and if they get too large I prefer side-switch. Now if they could only implement a side switch that didn't add to the length, like the old Eveready lights...

The AAA lights come to mind. Not many of then have clickies and many of them are EDCed because they are small and the batteries are easy to find.

Take a look at the LRI Proton Pro.

Slim profile, AA battery, adjustable output and a side switch.

You didn't mention if size was an issue. The UK 4-AA eLED Zoom has a side-clickie with 2 power levels. I keep it in my parka pocket with a traffic wand.

I think a lot of manufacturers use tail switches for space saving. It takes up space and makes for a longer light to have a side switch. I'm not a "tactical" user and i actually prefer a side switch on a light like a mag, but i've just gotten used to the tailcap switches. I'll take a smaller and more pocket friendly package over a slight preference toward side switches.

My MR Bulk DragonHeart is EDC-sized and uses a side mounted switch. It is nearly the same length as my Surefire E1B. The DH runs off of an 18500 (1.5x123 sized cell), so the overall length is a very pleasant surprise.

I understand a few will be sold via Lighthound in case you are interested.
