Hey guys,
I'm looking for a flashlight for EDC, and work. Not looking for anything large, I prefer a single AA or AAA light. LED of course. At work I'll mostly be using it to see at the back of shelves and into our walkin freezers and whatnot. I dont want to spend much, $50 is my limit. It has to be easy to get also (Not like a Maratac AAA lol)

Right now I am looking at three different lights:
Fenix LD01
Fenix E01
LED LENSER P2

thanks guys,
Wolf.

Of the 3 lights you listed, the LD01 is the best bet. On low it can act like the E01 and runs for a long time. I don't know why the E01 is even listed, with its purple tint and not bright enough for any real work.

However, compared to newer lights, the LD01 is not a good value at $39.

AAA lights from ITP and Lighthound cost around $24.

Alright well I'll avoid the E01
Both of those lights you linked me to cost the same amount as the LD01 with shipping.
I'll probably end up getting the LD01.

Thanks for the help!

For a single AA, the Fenix E11 is economical and effective. It only has two modes (high and medium, set by the bezel position), but you can leave it in a particular mode if you use this mode repeatedly during the day, which is preferable to having to cycle through various modes each time it is used. The E11 also has a forward clicky switch, which I find nicer than a twisty. It lacks a clip, but you could slightly bend an AAA-size Fenix clip to make it fit.

Fenix LD01

If the LD01's medium mode is bright enough for you, then it's good that it activates on medium first--many similar multi-mode flashlights start on low first, which has its advantages but not when you're using it regularly for work. On the other hand, if you need the high mode, then reaching it takes a total of five twists.

Whoa that Fenix E11 is really nice. Nice price on that light too. I didnt even notice that the LD01 is a twisty type. I dont like that at all. Thanks for the recommendation!

Have a look at the Jetbeam BA10 or Klarus ST10 they are in your price range.

Cheers

I have been searching for the last 2 weeks for what I consider a perfect EDC single AA light and finally decided on the Fenix LD10 R5. Compared to the LD01 it is bigger, but if size isn't your main concern it will blow away any AAA in existence! 🙂

I picked it because of its many modes, easy and intuitive UI, great runtimes and excellent build quality... I also find it very pocketable.
Oh, and it also comes in a gift package that contains the E05 (small AAA light, very floody and keychain-friendly), so you could look into this option as well (no holster for the LD10 though).

If you want a more direct comparison of single AA lights, selfbuilt did an incredible in-depth review of most offerings here: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb...views-RUNTIMES-BEAMSHOTS-COMPARISONS-and-more! (note that the LD10 reviewed is the R4 model, not the latest R5, but there shouldn't be considerable differences).
