eflare

i was searching ebay and saw this led emergency flare (eflare 500). has anyone seen it or tried it out? i'm wondering what is the brightness compared to the turboflare.

I actually got sniped on some Digimon CDs a couple of years back - I can't see who would have wanted the asinine things more than I did - but I found another set of them shortly thereafter and won them. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I went out and bought some D cells yesterday, so I'll be adequately prepared to evaluate the eflare when I receive it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I received the EF500 a few moments ago. I fed it two new alkaline D cells, and it's considerably brighter than I expected it to be. It uses four large SMD orange (~610nm) LEDs, and flashes them in unison at approximately 2Hz (two flashes per second), with a duty cycle of approximately 33%.

I'll start my evaluation of it shortly, and post the evaluation URL in the appropriate thread in the Reviews forum.
