Will the Li123 batteries fit in the AA Double barrel? (I assume you'd be getting rid of the AA 'carrier' like you did with the Garrity). You could fit 2 rows of 3 batteries, couldn't you? How about making you're own version of the SF M6?

I'll build this one from scratch. I haven't found any other AA torch that uses a battery carrier like the Garrity did, so I'll have to go from scratch or bore a store bought one to fit 123s. If anyone can recommend a good AA side by side in aluminum with a wall thick enough to bore, let me know.

I have to stay with the R30/P60/P90 lamp assemblies or get a Turbo Head to get that nice a reflector for a homebrew M6. Too much hassle and money.

Besides, I already own an M6 so I'm not motivated to make one. I do have plans to convert my M6 into something, but it's gonna be tough to chuck that expensive baby up and cut on it. :)

For those of you in the South SF Bay Area, Wallyworld in Milpitas (McCarthy Ranch) has the Legend LX in stock. Funny thing is, after examining it, it failed to impress so I didn't buy one.

As an aside, I noticed that the Garrity SS AA ($7.96) is also sold by Walmart under it's own name. It's the same torch but without the Garrity brand name on the barrel.

For $10, it comes with a multi-tool, ala Leatherman, but for the $2 bucks difference you can well imagine the quality of this "tool". Oh well, I only wanted the
torch anyway.

Next project is a double barrel par/series four lithium. This will be user configurable as a two hour P6, a 2.5 hour E2 or a 6 hour E1 using those repsective lamps.

Gman,

Where were those LX's located? I went down there the morning of 11/7 and last night around 6pm and didn't see them displayed. I asked the guy if they had any in back and he said "everything is out there" (hmmmm, no surprise in that response).

I looked where they have the majority of the flashlights displayed (near the sporting goods counter). I saw the display rack for it, hanging in the top row next to the LED flashlight, but it was empty.

Maybe it wasn't meant to be. I've already tried REI. Think I'll try Any Mountain, and then Sportmart.

Thanks for the help.

Neal

Neal,

There where two there at 11 am yesterday on the top rack with all the other lights. Darn, someone must have snagged 'em.

At least you know that particular store stocks it or they wouldn't have a display rack for them.

Sorry I sent you on a wild goose chase.

Gman,

No problem; it's not your fault! I do appreciate the scouting report. At least I was looking in the right area.

They said that more are on order and I had them increase their order for more LX's. Don't know when they'll arrive, though.

To me, the LX is like "Bigfoot" or a UFO: Many have claimed to have seen one, but I'll believe it when I see it
