So we can confirm that the exterior finish has been updated to a matte black, less reflective surface. The Bravo/Charlie I have on hand feature a matching finish from head to tailcap.

Veri nice! and quite easily the diode can be changed to XHP50.2 3V version 3000K or 6500K

I don’t know how easily that would be accomplished, due to the potting compound.

Matching HA certainly isn’t required, but even without excessive OCD, it would annoy me to be that different.

Ano match color has never bothered me. But different surface finish is another thing. That photo of the new head the old Bravo body is wrong.

Added a photo of the 650 AVS Bravo and 315 Alpha to compare to the new less semi-gloss finish. Looks like the new stuff is near Pentagon dull now.

will [XHP50.2 on 20mm MCPCB] work with the tir?
Any 3V 5050 should fit and run with a slightly altered beam profile (and/or tint) through the optic, though there may not be any benefit in output being that the existing driver limits current to ~1.5A maximum. Might as well swap out the LED and driver at the same time. But then dual-fuel will be affected as you have to be wary of higher current draw on primaries. Which may then necessitate a more complex driver.

Will shoot the AVS against the HD XPL-HI 6500K next week. Added a quick shot versus the HD 18650 XT 5700K for now...

BTW, that's a more drastic mismatch of finishes that I'd expected! Normally I don't much care but that's kind of drastic. I would hate to buy new bodies since I already have one Charlie and two Bravos (one of them custom engraved) and an Alpha, also engraved. Still, if I set one up as a WML it would be less of an issue.
