Outside of the matte black finish, none that I can tell versus the previous generation AVS. I have not had a ZFL pass through, so I am unable to compare the current finish to those specific models.

Y'all should check out campsaver's site.
They have parts, some old stock, backorder for the new ones, and a $20 off per $100 coupon. SAVE20(40/60/80)

Can anyone confirm that the newest bodies have differently machined edges?

I found the new Alphas to be so sharp that they would cut your hand during impact training.

Thanks, Jim

Ps it could have been a one off, but the newer Alpha was returned upon discovering the sharper edges.

Funny, if you look at the OP's top photos and compare them to Elzetta's website pics, it seems as if they left out the chamfer on the Charlie too :

Replaced the shot of the logo pocket with another. I can only assume that the Alpha reflects the same: The edges of the pocket mill are deburred, yet neither chamfered nor radiused while the longitudinal ends remain scalloped.

Correct, I can only assume, someone at Elzetta said, if we eliminate this milling step, we can save "One Million Dollars"...

Ya figured it was only a matter of time before they went away. I tell you old school elzetta's with a Malkoff in it has got to be one of if not the strongest most reliable lights there is.

I just received my new AVS head in the mail and snapped a few comparison photos between the old head and the new. The new head has the look and feel of a more matte texture; this is really evident in the photo of the new head on my old Bravo body. The new head is on the left, the old on the right...
