I think the issue you may run into is that it uses 3 cells.Just wondering if it's okay to use energizer L91 lithiums in a Streamlight Siege AA lantern. Streamlight seem to stress it's for alkaline cells on their website, but nothing to say what else you can use. Is the small extra voltage a problem?
IIRC, the L91's start around 1.77V max. Normally, that little bit over the ~1.5V of an alkaline usually isn't too bad, but with three cells, that'd be over 5.3V vs. an expected ~4.5V.
You could always ask Streamlight. My assumption is they are warning against 14500 4.2V lithium ion cells, but you never know. They might ACTUALLY mean any/all lithium cells, or they might just be saying that so a more general audience doesn't accidentally slap 3x 4.2V cells into it.
For what it's worth, I have one of these, and have given some to some kids in the family, and they really do great with eneloops. I quite literally just dusted one off I have on a shelf, fired it up, and it's still good. The low-discharge of eneloops make them great for emergency prepping, too (with the added advantage of being rechargeable, which can be done with a camping solar panel [albeit, slowly]).
