I hear it's better to charge eneloops often to prevent them from running down too low(1.0V and below)when used in flashlights. I was wondering though if a partial(say 1/2 discharge) then a charge will count toward the life of the battery the same as a complete discharge and charge. Just that I see they say 1000's of charges and wondered if charging before totally drained still counts the same as 1 charge thus giving me less hours of total battery life.

but for YOUR question, what search terms have you tried thus far?

I didn't search because I can guarantee it's never been answered. I had a hard enough time trying to explain what I was asking let a alone there already being an answer for it.

and I can gurantee it has at least a dozen times. the exact question has come up just within the last week alone.

The less deep the discharge, the more cycle life the cell will have. This is true for almost every chemistry.

If they last for 1000 cycles at 100% discharge (most don't) then they would last many many more cycles than that if you charged them at only half discharge.

Sorry, I guess it was more the way I was wording it.
