I've always been somewhat intrigued by the Arc White even after reading a lot of negative posts about it here at CPF. I was in Sears yesterday, and picked one up...as a self-respecting flashoholic, I HAD to

! Here's some of my observations: First of all, I like it. I like the way it looks and feels in my hand. Although, I wouldn't take it on any rugged outdoor adventures, because to say it isn't the most robust flashlight in the world would be a gross understatement! However, I wouldn't be afraid to take it to the local campground...the CCFT would come in very handy. Second, the beam is nice and tight and throws a lot further than I would have thought. I put a Radio Shack 6V (actually 4.8V) halogen bulb and 4 AA lithium batteries in it, and it throws farther and brighter than my stealth lite!
One thing I didn't like about it is the bulb socket. There's nothing metal in the socket...just a plastic hole to stick the bulb in. As a result of this I had to screw around quite a bit to get the bulb to attain it's optimum focus in the reflector. However, since I don't have to take the reflector off to change the batteries, I don't have to mess with the bulb until it blows. All in all, for $16.00 I'm not disappointed with it at all. It throws a nice , tight, bright beam a long way, and the CCFT makes it handy as heck for a lot of applications. Just my $0.02 worth...

...there is nothing in the world more frustrating than a lousy beam...

I replaced the bulb in my Arc White too. It's a good emergency light and not a bad value for the money.

I have 5 Energizer Arc Whites! (Don't ask, it's a long story!)

I really love/hate this light!

On 4 of them, the incandecent bulb is soo bad, with rings and shadows, and just a crappy light output, that I removed the bulb completely, and replaced it with a PR based LED bulb. Of course, the LED did not throw as far as the stock bulb, but I figured that the LED would use much less "juice" than the stock bulb, so why not.

However, on one of the lights, the stock bulb gives me a tight and small, but almost perfect beam?!?!?!?! Wierd!

The physical light is crappy, but I just really like the CCFT light output!

I wish that there was a silver reflector on the back of the CCFT instead of a white flat plastic, and that the switch and the rest of the physical light was made better.

Hey Jack O. Lantern, I like the description of that Korean light in your signature. Sounds like you have to buy them in moderation, or else risk getting a little tipsy.

Gotta love those auto translators.

Sorry for drifting off topic. I do own 2 of the ArcWhite's and both have broken battery doors as when they drop, they crack very easily. Both dropped indoors on a wooden floor. But, Mr. Fixit over here fashioned a temp fix as I couldn't bear to see the CCFT technology go to waste. Not the prettiest fix in the world, but it's functional. (some electrical tape and a piece of aluminum cut from a pie tin) For their size, CCFT puts out an incredible amt of light.

I was intrigued by the ArcWhite too, until I saw this interesting 3-way light. Anyone tried one of these yet?

that looks like a pretty nifty little 4AA, $30 +S/H is a bit much perhaps. wonder who makes that thing and when one can get tested....

I was going to get one, but then Arc LS's and LE's became available again, and I jumped all over that instead.

My flashlight budget is spent for the next couple of months.

Edwood,
It's so hard to enjoy a good LS flashlight in moderation.

Methinks we've visited the same overseas website.

The 3-way light sounds promising until you found out that you need to cycle through all modes in order to turn on/off:-(
