I've always been somewhat intrigued by the Arc White even after reading a lot of negative posts about it here at CPF. I was in Sears yesterday, and picked one up...as a self-respecting flashoholic, I HAD to
! Here's some of my observations: First of all, I like it. I like the way it looks and feels in my hand. Although, I wouldn't take it on any rugged outdoor adventures, because to say it isn't the most robust flashlight in the world would be a gross understatement! However, I wouldn't be afraid to take it to the local campground...the CCFT would come in very handy. Second, the beam is nice and tight and throws a lot further than I would have thought. I put a Radio Shack 6V (actually 4.8V) halogen bulb and 4 AA lithium batteries in it, and it throws farther and brighter than my stealth lite!
One thing I didn't like about it is the bulb socket. There's nothing metal in the socket...just a plastic hole to stick the bulb in. As a result of this I had to screw around quite a bit to get the bulb to attain it's optimum focus in the reflector. However, since I don't have to take the reflector off to change the batteries, I don't have to mess with the bulb until it blows. All in all, for $16.00 I'm not disappointed with it at all. It throws a nice , tight, bright beam a long way, and the CCFT makes it handy as heck for a lot of applications. Just my $0.02 worth...

...there is nothing in the world more frustrating than a lousy beam...
