Newly Enlightened
I couldn't help myself, and I bought one of the Error E2ls that Dan at TW was selling. Beam is very nice, tighter than my L4.
Brightness:
The Error E2L seems to be about 1/3 as bright (to my eyes) as the L4 with full batteries.
Dimensions:
For reference (don't know if they changed) my L4 head has a scalloped bezel, but doesn't have the "Caution: hot surface" warning and came (used) on an L4 body that has the 3 flat sides.
The overall height of the heads appears practically the exact same. However, looking at the 3 different pieces (let's call them bottom, middle and bezel ring)
The bottom piece of the Error head is 1mm shorter than the L4 head, but the "rim" at the bottom is thicker than the L4. However, the rounded scooped out portion is the same width.
The Middle section appears to be the same height, but while the "anti roll" scallops on the L4 go almost to the bottom of the piece (1mm away) the Error head scallops stop about 2mm away (keep in mind I'm using a plastic ruler to "measure" these things.)
The top bezel ring (with the caution hot surface warning(no other markings if you didn't know) on the error head is taller (we'll call it 1mm, otherwise my measurements don't add up properly) and looking down from above, the lens is sunk down further (which puts it right at the top of the reflector like in the L4) than the L4.
The scallops at the top appear to be a slightly larger diameter with the same center (so they are slightly deeper and slightly wider) than the L4.
Thanks,
Robin
EDIT: I edited out some questions about 5W leds...
