I'm from sunny Singapore & juz acquired the Eternalight & LW4000 from theLEDlight.com....those guys are juz great & the Eternalight is one great light to compliment my Surefire E2.

However, as mention in some reviews & feedback, the Eternalight is very sensitive to RF emmission from GSM handphones, as well as static energy( dunno about the latter)....is there any expert out there that knows how to improve the RF shield of this great item?... (I was rudely awaken twice during my first night with the Eternalight on my sidetable near to my mobile phone) :p

On a positive note, the "function" however, is pretty useful in meetings when the vibrator mode is too noisy on the meeting table(ie phone doing breakdancing) & the "visual" alert is very attention-grabbing

Thanks

Cool Another Singaporean.

My "from" doesn't tell half the story, but I'm really from Singapore too.

Anyway, back to your problem. The simplest way of shielding your Eternalight is by lining it with aluminium foil. There was a thread somewhere around here which explained in more detail how to do it. I suppose the main thing would be to shield the circuitry or the chip itself. Try doing a search.

BTW, the Eternalight and the Photon II lights are available from some shops in Sim Lim Square and Funan Centre. Don't really have to order all the way from USA unless the pricing is competitive. Really should try and boost the demand for locally available flashlights.

Huh? Are you saying, that, when your cell phone is on, and you have an incoming call (reguardless of if the ringer or vibrate modes are on), the Eternalight turns on, or flashes? Is that correct?

Yes it will turn on AND my back doorbell ( a wireless) will also ring if near the cell phone.

Thanks for the aluminum foil trick....would try it out later this evening to see if it works....how about the radiation stickers that was attached to a mobile phone & supposingly reduces radiation.(comes with either red or blue LED)

Yes, the frequency from my GSM Nokia 8210 is enough to trigger the flashlight on....be it incoming SMS, incoming or outgoing calls and when switching the phone on or off.

By the way, Steelwolf mentioned that there is a store in Sim Lim selling the Eternalight.....any specific address(ie: 3rd floor???) how about the price range for the items?

The older batches of Eternalight3 is about US$100 in Sngarms & I managed to get the newer batches of Eternalight3 from the US at half that amount even with shipping thrown in.(plus some other bright stuffs)

Thanks

I knoe that sim lim square has photon clone at abt $28
if u really wan a clone, den i will suggest far east plaza 3rd level, a shop call ice lemon tea,
then have a clone which have a white body instead of black at $6.90

never see a eternalight at sim lim sq.

Interesting discussion on patents on that page too, re: that other thread
HERE where we were talking about the difference between holding a patent and holding a defensible patent...

The discussion there pretty much echoes what I said-

Spidey: Personally, I would suggest not supporting the guys who make the clones. But that's up to you.

There was a shop in Sim Lim Square where I managed to get a Photon II at around SG$23. I'm sorry, it has been quite a while and I've forgotten exactly where and how much.

As for the Eternalight, I think I saw something like it in Sim Lim Square, but I'm not sure if it was just a display lighting effect, a clone, or the real thing. What I'm sure about is a shop in Funan Centre that has the Photon, the Eternalight and something that looks like the Photon but was advertised at around $80.

I wasn't aware that SngArms was bringing in Eternalights, though I know that they have the Photons and Princeton Tec Pulsars.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

As for the RF interference, I'm not sure if the stickers will work. Give them a go and let us know!

What you are trying to achieve with the aluminium foil is an encasement shield. The foil acts as a physical barrier to the RF. A complete encapsulation would be best, but covering as much as possible, even with small gaps, should do the trick.

The stickers use a permanent magnetic field to deflect the majority of RF waves. They may not work. Another type of device picks up the RF signal and converts the energy, via coils, in to electricity (which runs a cute little LED. Note: this is different to the crap they sell in trinket shops that pick up the signal but use that to activate the circuit that actually drives the LEDs). Sort of like absorbing the RF waves. Not sure if that will work either.

Okay...managed to try out the aluminium foil, covered by a tape trick...sorry to say that it doesn't really work all the time.

The RF used to affect the Eternalight3 when I place it NEAR the phone...now it was LEAST affected if place beside it, however if I place the phone DIRECTLY over/beneath the Eternalight, the RF would trigger it on.

I doubt the radiation sticker(those that have an self-powered LED) would work too cos' I already have one on the phone & it doesn't seem to reduce the radiation whatsoever.

My next question would this "special-effect" caused by the RF shorten the lifespan of the circuit-board...& finally the lite?

I can live with this "feature", but I hate the idea of damaging the item cos' of the RF from mobile phone....in Singapore (with a population of approx 3 million, 8 out of 10 person of the population owe a mobile phone....so U can see how dependent we are on mobile phones :p
