What's rong with them?
I posted an update on my site about a week ago showing the prices on many of their models had dropped... I'd say now's the time to buy if you want one.

You are right...in fact I am going to your site right now. I don't visit as often as I should as the line I am on is major big time slow. Bill Gates put fiber in our town as he felt sorry for smaller cities. No one has hooked it up...

I thought about doing something but ROI...

I just ordered one of the Xray's. I have wanted one but did not want to spring for 70 bucks. $49 is more like it. I called the MFG this morning to try and see what was up. The girl I talked to said that they were going to try and make them more affordable..

it looks like the better models prices dropped. the classic and rave'n are still $40. time to upgrade

Save a phone call..
This is a direct phone number that Tech. Assc. asked me to use.

775 -331- 3330
They open 9 AM PST.

It seems that Eternalight has gone out on their own ( from Retail ) and this is the direct number to order. Wish them well!!

They are real nice on the phone also ..

I recently got an Eternalight X-Ray (just before the sale, doh!). I am surprised how well I like it.

The pulse width modulation works really well and is efficient with the batteries. I have wanted a light that you can dim, and not with just a resistor sucking up power. I also recently made Brad's LED conversion for the E2, running the 5600 Nichia white at 70ma. The X-ray on high beats it by a factor of about 4 in brightness while using less runtime!

It has the always-on option, like the PALight, either steady or blinking. Love that feature.

Also it is fun to have a strobe light that fits in your pocket.

Already torture tested it by submerging it for 24 hours, no leakage.

I would recommend buying one.

Hi folks!

It sure sounds like a great light. It looks like this will be my next light. For you folks that have one, will this unit run longer on lithium AAs? Is it waterproof enough to float with the lithiums in?

Thanks for the info.

From their site:
FLOATS in fresh and salt water when equipped with AA Lithium batteries

Pretty cool.

I've got the xray, and its a great light. Just got back from camping and I had put the unit to test. Its perfect for close up tasks, as well as walking on a trail. What was really great about the light was the "night beacon" feature. I hung it on top of the tent inside. The light output was just perfect, enough to see around in the tent.
I would recommand this light.

My 2 cents, GET ONE NOW!!! I too waited for a price drop and got the $49.95 price. It is a great light. (Only light that I've gotten that comes with a COMPLETE instruction manual).

The light on high will light back to a dark 80' room (not super duper bright, but bright enough for what it is). I strongly suggest running out to Wal-Mart and getting the lithium batteries. Get the 4 pack for $9.57 not two 2 packs - they're $5.27 each.

I think it is a little brighter and the light is noticably lighter (weight).

GO FOR IT!!!!

Best Regards,

Chas

Good suggestion Chas, I will try lithiums too, here's why.

Last time I stood in line at WalMart it was to pick up a Brinkman LED, it took forever. Maybe I'll just spend a little more and go to Radio Shack. Of course batteries come 2 at a time, leaving the odd one left over...

Hmmm, maximum sustained output current of 1.4 amps...

Anyone want to design a really bright 1AA light?

I can't decide whether to get the 3X or the Model 2 ("Classic"). I definitely like the slightly-more-protected LEDs in the 3 series, as well as the more advanced circuitry. But the Model 2 can stand on end as a room light, or on its side on a nightstand as a reading light. I don't need waterproofness. Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

- Johnny

P.S. My first post on CPF! Although I have lurked for over a month and enjoyed many posts.

Johnny,

The X-Ray WILL stand on end on a flat surface. I bought mine here - http://theledlight.com/eterna-light.html.

See the "little feet" on the bottom. It will stand up (with lithium batteries). If you order from these folks have them send it Priority Mail, as it was quicker than UPS was.

Hope this helps....

Best Regards,

I would definetly go with the X-Ray. I thought the little blue LED inside wouldn't be useful, but it is pretty nice. Great marker light.

Also since it is waterproof you wouldn't have to think, hummm its raining, I better not take it outside. You can feel safe carrying the light anywhere you would go yourself.

And the Neato fator on the clear blue plastic is pretty good.

Received my ERGO X-ray today, and it is quite nice.

Somewhere, somebody wrote that it was the size of a common pager, but it is a little bit larger than a pager; appx the size of a pack of cigarettes

my 02 cent

Actually, it's a bit smaller than siggerets.

The original (classic) version is about the size of a beeper.

Thanks Chas and Brock, I'm going for the X-ray and not looking back!

This will be my third LED flashlight. The first was my Photon II, still on its first battery after almost a year but substantially dimmer than when I first got it. The second was my Turtlelite II, purchased after reading CandlePowerForums. Haven't had much of a chance to use it yet, but I have total confidence that it'll be there when I do, as the batteries last 65 hours. Very bright for 2 LEDs and well-made!

Johnny

If brighter light is what you are after I`m not sure if the Eternalight offers much more than the Turtle light 2. For ten bucks more you might look at the Lightwave 4000 unless the features of the Eternalight are what you are interested in. The 4000 gives the most lumen for the dollar of any led light that I know of and the beam is said to be smooth and very white (not to blue).

I just got mine and it is great.
Just a quick note if you take yours apart often as this will save you grief.

The flashlight has the rubber material to keep the flashlight batteries snug. This sticks to the batteries and causes it to come apart not gracefully...sometimes causing the spring to unseat from the case, etc.

If you take a post-it, cut the sticky part off so you have a strip, take that strip of post-it and press it to the rubber it will not "yank" the batteries out when you open the case. I also tried to use silicone but it would eventually stick . The Post-it has worked perfectly.

When you put the batteries in, you can get an easier seat if you take a little piece of paper and use it like a shoe horn to position the battery. When the battery is in place, remove the piece of paper. The springs line up nicely this way.

New owners, I have botched 3 cases before...only the front two screws, however. DO NOT tighten too tight as the pressure of the rubber seal will weaken and strip out the post....guaranteed. I pinched the case, tightned feather tight just like the instructions said..and I still blew it.
