Ever tried lights from powerLEDlighting.com? (pics added)

Re: Ever tried lights from powerledlighting.com?

Well, this made it to page 3 a few days later...with no response.

I'm wondering if anyone who attends this forum has ever tried or seen these in action. They appear to be high quality lights. Can anyone comment?
I'm guessing the company is unknown to a lot of people.

Thanks.

Re: Ever tried lights from powerledlighting.com?

Thanks for the introduction to Sunlite! Have you found that output, runtimes and water and shock resistance fit the website descriptions?

Re: Ever tried lights from powerledlighting.com?

I do not have any formal testing equipment to measure output, but I would say that it is accurate. They are impressive for having such a small tip. Runtime is also accurate. I have no experience with the water and shock resistance though.

Again, the only light of theirs I own is the Sunlite Slim - 3aaa penlight.

Re: Ever tried lights from powerledlighting.com?

I would want to know what kind of led...how hard it is driven..HA III etc. Also, for country of manufacture and how the warrenty works.

Re: Ever tried lights from powerledlighting.com?

I would like to resurface this thread again...

This company has a 220 lumen(turbo) LED rechargeable flashlight. They claim that law enforcement uses it.

However they have no info in the type of LED nor any beamshots.

The 220 lumen model costs $139. I plan to get one when I have the money.

Can anyone comment on this company?

there is a reason noone answered:

imho these look very similar to DX-offerings,
There are way better lights to get that cost less.
Heck, You could even buy a SF 6P + original forward clicky switch + insert + Li-Ions + charger and stay below
(or even have the 6P be milled to accomodate an 18650 + cells + charger and stay cheaper)

save Your 139,--

Re: Ever tried lights from powerledlighting.com?

Take a closer look. These are nothing like DX lights. Did you notice the interchangeable heads?

I have owned their 60 lumen Sunlite slim penlight. You get what you pay for.

I guess my hopes were that with all of the experience of these forum members someone would have tried these by now. Maybe I'm wrong.

And $139 is not a lot for a high quality flashlight @ 220 lumens. $499 for a titanium 60 lumen is a lot. :sigh:

Re: Ever tried lights from powerledlighting.com?

There's just something fishy about a company trying to sell a light for $139 and not even listing the specs. I'm sure if it was THAT good of a light, someone here would've heard about, or maybe even owned one prior. But like you already know, nobody seems to have any experience with that particular brand.

It's one thing for a company to "claim" it's 220 lumens versus it actually being 220 lumens. We all know that manufacturer specs and real world output rarely ever do match up.

Proceed with caution. There are many, many other proven options for $139!

Re: Ever tried lights from powerledlighting.com?

Has anyone tried out their penlights? http://www.powerledlighting.com/Slim3WInfo.html
100lm's for $46 in a very carryable package sounds too good. I wonder about the beam from such a small reflector.

 ... I hope someone's had some experience to share because that 100 lumen penlight does look pretty cool. They claim 10 hour runtime on 3xAAA's...it can't be at 100lumens continuously...can it?

Hey RyanRPM...on your 65lumen penlight, you mentioned that their runtimes seem accurate. When you did your test, did you notice the light dimming considerably after running it awhile or did it run at the same intensity and then just shut off? Also, would you mind posting up a pic of the led and a beamshot??:naughty:

Re: Ever tried lights from powerledlighting.com?

I will post some beamshots around Monday or so...my light is at work.

I called them and spoke to someone about literature and all that. They do not have anything to send through the mail, but they said they will put up some beamshots on their website.

She told me that they manufacture the wafers that go into the LED emitters, so they are always on the leading edge of the technology. That was a quote almost verbatim of what she told me.

The 100 lumen slim light is their newest light, and they've been making the LED lights now for 2 yrs. Company has been around about 10 yrs.

They sell to Snap-On and some law enforcement agencies.....and they will also sell from their website.

Again, I'll try to have the beamshots up in a few days. It is a bright pure-flood light. Excellent for close up inspection and for night walks.

I like their lights well enough, they aren't anything particularly special (the slimlite is pretty neat, though.) I've had a slimlight for a little over 2 weeks now and it's a great addition to my EDC compliment.

...ooohhh, do tell! Which Slim Lite do you have?...65 Lumen or 100 Lumen? How's the output & runtime?...is it pretty true to what they claim on their website? Do you have a meter to test with??:naughty:

Re: Ever tried lights from powerledlighting.com?

I emailed the folks at Powerledlighting.com regarding the Slim Light and I guess they are using a CREE P4. I may have to try this out :naughty:.

This is what they emailed me:

"Thanks for your interests.
Slim3W is not regulated. The purpose is for higher power efficiency. It is around 100 lumens initially and then dimming. We use the LED die of the same generation as the Cree P4 and packaged it with our patent-pending technology. It is why our Slim penlight is the smallest and brightest penlight on the market right now. The beam pattern contains the focused beam in the center and the secondary beam around it."

Please let me know if you have further questions.

I have the 100, and runtime is pretty good, about 2 hours at full power. output is noticeably dimmer than my U2 ultra at full, so it's probably 100 emitter lumens. I don't have a meter, sorry! Hope this helps.

Re: Ever tried lights from powerledlighting.com?

It appears that these people have the holy grail of 18650 lights. A straight tube 18650 light for 119 bucks. The Eagle at 110 lumen, 4.7 inches long and 1 inch in diameter.
http://www.powerledlighting.com/EagleBuy.html
Runs for a claimed 3 hours on a 2200 mah 18650 so it probably only puts out 80 lumen or so. I might get one just to have the form factor, then see if it can be modded to put 1 amp into the P4. That would make the light a little more interesting. :D

Edit: From the info sheet it looks like they use a K2. I wonder if it's the old inefficient K2 or the new K2 TFFC flip chip? The new flip chip is rated at 200 lumen at 1 amp. They might actually get 110 lumen out with the flip chip.

Thanks for the info @jufam44 :twothumbs. It's nice to hear from someone directly that owns the light. This light doesn't sound too bad...especially considering the form factor. :grin2:
