EX10 Thermal Shutdown

I have been reading a lot about runtimes and outputs on these lights. I have the R2 version and cannot get it to run for more than about 10 min on max before it shuts off assuming from thermal because it will come back on when it is given a minute to cool down. I do not see any special measures being taken for cooling when doing these test. Is anyone else is experiencing the same results or do I have a bad light. I had a HDS U42 before and I am not used to immediate darkness.

Sounds like a battery problem.

Are you holding it in your hand? If you just let it sit, a small light can overheat and shutdown. Are you using a primary or an RCR? I have great success with the Soshine brand RCR from DX.

That was holding it in my hand. I am using AW RCR protected I believe they are 700's

And have you tried a primary?

Run the light in a cup of ice water and if it shuts down again the reason isn't likely to be thermal but due to something else.
