Here's an interesting little heavyweight:

That's 14+ ounces of solid brass, hosting a Malkoff M30W. It started life as a dim little 2C incan. The body walls are better than 3mm thick, and the switch is a built-in twisty.

I tossed the wimpy reflector and modified the threaded bulb holder to act as a keeper for the Malkoff. I needed a strand of 3 twisted copper wires around the drop-in to center it and provide the circuit. It's currently running on 3x 2/3A NiMH cells, but does just as well on a single AW C Li-Ion with a spacer. Unfortunately, an A123 26650 is a little too fat to fit.

I'm still polishing it, but have started thinking about sending it off to one of our talented lathe-men to have that brass carved up a bit.

Any style/design suggestions would be welcomed.

Cool host Donn :cool::cool::cool:

I think the waffle knurling TB does looks good
but I dont know if that will look good with the existing knurling

Boy, I really like that host! :eek: I wish there were more of them. I like the shape, being a 1C or 2C light with no distinguishing head shape. I usually like heads larger than the body (more traditional - bigger reflector), but I change my mind with this light because it is large enough that you can still get a decent beam from it. This light looks to be pocketable, but can have a super long run-time with AW C cells!

It would be neat if someone would copy this light design (maybe making it more suitable for permanent LED systems), or if someone machines a slim head for C and D sized mags (think of the Elektrolumen's Blaster but possibly in C-cell form). Thank you for sharing your historic light met with a great drop-in module. :thumbsup:

BTW, could you show or explain how the twisty mechanism works on this light?

Hi Donn:

I just scored one of these bad boys off ebay on friday, so I'm interested to see if anything else developed. I have some SST and SSR 50s that were looking for a happy home.

thx
