Extending/telescoping body tubes

Optional extender tubes are cool, but then you have "one more thing to lose or break" (as Quickbeam describes removable battery carriers).

Are there any lights that have a single body tube or battery compartment that can transform between different battery configurations? It probably wouldn't be as solid as a single-piece tube, but it might eliminate some inconvenient and costly LEGOing.

Telescoping body - two SF123A's or two AA batteries.

Hmmm very interesting. Would take some thought on how to avoid battery rattle when extended, as telescoping would mean having different internal diameters.
PK's been playing with it? Doesn't suprise me.
