Hi all,

I was wondering if this has ever been done ?

I like to have a few spare o-rings handy but find it rather annoying to search for the right size everytime I wonder.

I propose if anyone's interrested that we gather in this thread all the o-ring sizes of well-known McGizmo models. I suggest we keep the same format for easy reading.

Let me start with :

Model : McLuxIII Ti-PD
Piston o-ring : #16
Head o-ring (head/sleeve seal) : #17
Head o-ring (window seal) : #19

Model : LunaSol20
Piston o-ring : #16
Head o-ring (head/sleeve seal) : #17
Head o-ring (window seal) : two #19

Model : Sapphire AAA
Head o-ring (head/sleeve seal) : 9x1.5mm
Head o-ring (window seal) : 7.5x1mm and 6x1mm
LED retention in the head : #6

As you can see I am mission plenty! Please correct if I'm wrong...

cheers!

If you're not supposed to use synthetic lubes with EPDM O rings, what lube should you use?

Honestly, any lube you use is better then using nothing. The o-rings do not really get any abuse from their use in in flashlights, with perhaps piston o-rings and twisty o-rings being exceptions. If you use the "wrong" lube, you probably would not see any siginificant degradation for years.

That being said, the best lubes to use are Teflon type "fluorinated" lubes, like Krytox, since they are compatible with most o-ring materials. The next best are Silicone lubes, which are compatible with most o-ring materials except for silicone o-rings. If you use your light for diving, the use of an appropriate lube is more important to ensure no leakage.

Would anyone be able to clue me in on what an E series body o-ring would take where the head meets the body. For a Makai and Sundrop 1x123. I thought it was a #017 but I can't seem to figure this out or find exactly what I need to replace.

You need an o-ring for a Surefire or for a McGizmo? On McG clicky paks the body to head o-ring is -017 like you said.

For the McG Clicky Titanium body. I bought what I thought was a #17 O ring from the hardware but it turns out what someone calls a #17 O ring is completely the wrong size.

How many do you need? I think I still have some Buna and Viton -017 from sales gone by. 😉

Send me a PM with your mailing address and I'll throw a few in an envelope for you. 🙂

Where can we buy small quanities of #017 and #018 Fluorosilicone o-rings? Thanks!
