I've had good luck with the 14mm green GITD boots from dealextreme. They have an extension down the inside for shorter switches that needs to be cut off to fit the McClicky. The brim is a fairly good match for the older McClicky boots. The newer McClicky boots have a wider brim and use one less o-ring, so replacing one requires a GITD boot and an additionaly o-ring (simulating the old-style boot assembly). Hope that helps.
The one I have now (not including the second that I'll have in a few days) has a black O-ring on the outside and an orange O-ring on the inside. Is that the older or newer style? Also, just to make sure I get exactly the right thing, would you be willing to post or PM me a link to the correct item?

That's the old style with the rubber boot. The newer silicone boot is easier to press.

Received my BB Haiku and have to say, the contrasting matte and polished Ti looks even better in person. Glad I went that route, mates with my LS20 quite well.

Thanks!!!

Received my Haiku today. Kinda had me worried, it seemed to be taking too long, until I saw it didn't hit the post office until 10/06 to start with -- in which case it arrived right on time. And don't you worry about it Don, it's in good company now:

I received my BB yesterday. Wow, what a finish, and the clip... :twothumbs

It is pretty bright as well, I tested it against several other lights and I was quite surprised!

The clip on my light wasn't very well aligned, I managed to get it right with my fingers only, because I never use the clips it should stay that way. I made lanyards with paracord, which I wrap double around the light through the clip, a little pain on some lights to get it in, but 100% secure and scratch-free.

I especially like the "signature" on the clip, each light should have such a visible mark.

:party:Mine arrived safely on the 8th, just in time for me to go out of town for a few days.

Haven't had too much play time with it yet:hairpull:, but like my Ti PD-s and LS20, the workmanship is top-notch:twothumbs.

The spacing of the 3 levels is just about perfect, IMO, and the clicky is quite easy to use.

All in all, definitely a keeper although I doubt that it will replace the Ti PD-s as my go-to light (for work, at any rate). I guess that at heart I'm just more of a PD kinda guy.

:thinking:Also, if anyone else has mentioned it, I've missed it: The design of the head reminds me of an a19 aleph head that has been lighted and reshaped with the fins. I briefly had a EN mule that I had put an a19 and gdup cree LE on and in looks and performance was very close to what I now have. The upside, though, is I now have it in Ti, and better looking to boot!:D

The fins are definitely cool; to be honest that's the biggest reason I bought the Haiku, was because of the aesthetic design. I honestly didn't think I'd be too thrilled with its functionality.

You might find yourself changing your mind after you have more time to play with it, Tim. I was using mine last night while I was vacuuming and washing the interior of my car, and the ability to quickly flick through the brightness levels was a lot more convenient than I'd expected. The thing sucks batteries like nobody's business on high, though; I ran down two RCRs, and probably blinded a few neighbors shining the light in weird directions while inspecting the window glass. All in all I must say it's given me pause to reconsider whether PD (in its original form) is still the best interface available. Nitecore has done a superb job updating it, but in terms of cost-effectiveness the Clicky Pak combined with a well-designed driver is hard to beat.

Your comments about Aleph make me wonder, though: are the "real" Aleph parts still in-production, or are they all old stock at this point?

And now it's time for my trademark Business End headshot:

I'm in a similar "potential conversion" phase to frystormer.

I bought a Haiku previously, but preferred PD so I ended up selling (well trade actually for McClicky 2-Pak for). When the BB Haiku came out I picked one up again - it just looked so damn nice. While I like the 3 speed I really am a low/high kind of guy.

Having used the 2-Pak McClicky (E1B Milky creemator head) I'm alot more used to McClicky now. BB Haiku's a keeper.

I'm in a completely different conversion phase, from the "normal China lights" to the custom ti class... lovecpf

I also must admit that I ordered the BB Haiku for its design and I was very surprised about the output and the beam. This light can indeed replace a whole bunch of my lights. I also like the output steps, low seems actually bright enough to me for normal operation (I have sensible eyes and like it dim), medium covers nearly the rest and high is propably very usefull outside, I'm curious about the throw. According to Don's graphs, it doesn't suck more power on high than comparable lights, driving a Cree XR-E that high involves unfortunately high power consumption.

As for the McClicky, it's nearly what I'm used to, except that most other lights are first switched on, then you change levels. I knew this system from the Dereelights. Some folks don't like it, because you might switch modes using momentary often and rapidly (not my case). The click is exceptionnal, not to soft, not to firm. I have other lights, which don't hold that good in my hand because they are straight tubes, where the click is that firm that you sometimes fear to push the light out of your hand instead of switching it on (my wife surely uses both hands)...

Last week I received my first PDs, that was quite new to me. The LS20 I got is brand new and very hard to push to high, my wife can't do it at all for high, I can keep the pressure a few seconds, but then the light eventually begins to flicker. Everything with the PD is for momentary only for me, I'll twist if I need a constant output. The LS27 works much smoother, it was a used one, but, still, I can't hold the pressure for high for more than a minute. I like the idea behind it, operation is cool, the trit in the piston is class and the look is great. However, I normally preffer a simply clicky, nothing to lube, practically no maintenance and no breaking-in of the system (I think my LS20 will get smoother over time, the o-ring "crunshes" sometimes, lube should be OK). At first, when I saw the McClickies, I wanted to switch to them, but then I resumed to let each of my McGizmos in their original state and configuration. I'm not a lego-man...

BB Haiku is definetely a keeper, each of my McGizmos is a keeper! I consider my collection complete by now, I won't look out for older models, but I'm open for the future. New lights bring new usage for a flashaholic!
