Fatboy question Left or right?

I'm almost certainly going to buy one soon and in my minds eye the original which fits on the right seems a better choice. I'm right handed.
Any body with experience with both models or who is right handed and uses the left side model?

If it's a draw is there any advantage to the newer model?

Here's a link to my review of the old style FB FB/CC bag

Here's a link to my review of the new style FB
here

I like the older model to the S series.
It's what I have.
In June my right arm/hand was unuseable for four months. I carried the FB on my left side.
From November till last week, I had both arms. I still carried the FB on my left. Just seemed to make sense. I'm righty and I want the strong side to be freed up.
Last week I now have the FB on my right side. YEP, same thing...just other arm...Tore the bicep tendon....four more months...
The FB works equally well on both sides.
Do a search for maxpedition....or.... fatboy. You'll see several good reviews on the FB.

The newer model removed the strap pouch and has velcro on the top flap. The review will go into more detail
You won't go wrong with either style....or side you wear it on.

I just ordered one earlier today. S-type. (I'm left-handed.) But more importantly, I wanted the bag away from my right hand. No sidearm or anything, I just like it that way... I like my right hand free (my wallet is in my right-front pocket though).

Tom -bummer! Hope the recovery goes well.

I'm a Southpaw and I keep my fatboy bag on my left side most of the time and it's just plain an awsome bag, (wish it was a bit bigger but awsome none the less)

I have an original (right-hand) Fatboy, and I prefer it there, although it does interfere with other items I tend to carry on my RH side - I usually have a knife clipped to my Right front pants pocket, and the FB sometimes gets hung up on that, and if I'm wearing my Leatherman Wave in it's sheath on my RH side (preferred location for many years now), the FB hits it, and will eventually leave a bruise under the Leatherman.

None of it is enough to cause me to switch out of my Fatboy, and it's far easier for me to be in and out of the bag with my strong hand, but all things equal, I might look at an S-type if I were getting a new one. The combination of the extra mounting point and the relative uncrowded-ness of my Left Side might be enough to push me that way.

At the end of the day, it's all personal preference, though - there's no hidden functional advantage to one or the other, just the obvious ones of strong hand vs. weak hand, and any competing items that you regularly carry on one side or the other.

Thanks to all for not pointing out any obvious reasons for picking one over the other.

I guess now I'll ask what the best color is. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dedhorse.gif

I've found that the lighter colors make it much easier to see what's inside. I thought that it would be a tradeoff and the outside would show dirt, but my kahki / tan still looks like new.

I don't notice the difference between left or right of the bag - I wear mine on whichever side I want - very often over just one shoulder.

Mine is black.

I have both the original and the S type. I favor the S type since it doesn't have a cell phone pocket but has the attachment point. I use this to clip my belt holster there and I have a Maxpedition medium size radio holder that I use instead to hold my Treo 650.

Either bag you can wear either way no problem.

BTW, if anyone wants my standard Fat boy, I guess I would be willing to part with it. Just PM me.

I thought I gave specific instructions that no one was supposed to offer one for sale the day after I bought one. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon23.gif

I have had both a green and tan in my possesion. The green was a right side bag and the tan is left.

I liked wearing the bad on my left much more for some weird reason. I am right handed as well.

I personally like the tan one more. While I dont like the fact its easier to see that its dirty, its nicer looking and less conspicuous. Plus its really hard to actually get dirty cause of the material its made of.

I am quite the fan of this bag now...

As I've been adding specialized pouches to my Fatboy....
I realize the benefit of the new style with the increased attachment points.
