BSBG and Lux-- Thanks-- I had not seen that thread.

M6 seems a little brighter; certainly looks like a brighter hot spot. But it's close. I love my 1794 with two AW 18500s.

Thanks, folks.

so the most conservative estimate is still over 1,000 lumens on fresh cells.

I dont see a problem...can I leave both up?

all the way down to 7.8 volts its still at about 1,000 lumens, great for IMRx2x16340

your second chart is using a 1" reflector instead of a 2" but still impressive...

so this bulb could do alot more lumens if im using a turbohead in your measurements? the math from lux to lumens..hmmmm

These were done with fresh cells, and as I said when increasing the default lumen spec, I wanted to have it compared side by side with known setups. Once that was done, it is very clear that the higher 1,000L default was wrong.

I took down the 1,000L chart because after doing the side by side review, I know it is false and misleading. I again respectfully ask you to remove that chart from your post.

Nite, all the tests on the 1794 & 1499 were ONLY done with the FM 1" MOP heads in that one setup you sent me, and with freshly charged 18650 cells. I had two sets of cells that were used with each bulb test to give both bulbs maximum advantage.

Thanks for the info jslappa. But does a 1794 bulb fit in the FM MN Bi-pin holder? I thought the 1794 was a smaller bulb requiring FM's D26 bi-pin socket? I'd love to be able to use the 1794 in the M3 head if there was a way..

Yes, I was simply referring to the fact that there were better options for the M3 than the HO LF bulb you mentioned. I got the M3 to work with the MN bi pin assy and an 1185, but it looks like a caveman put it together. I hear Kruppstahl is tearing up the night with that thing on 3 IMR 16340's!

As for the 1794, I don't know if the bi-pins can be placed in the MN Bi Pin assy. I suppose the Bi Pins could be altered to fit, but it may not be worth it in the end.....not when the 1185 is such a good performer.

You're right though, out of the box the 1794 would probably not fit in the MN bi pin holder. I would imagine I would have read a few threads on it by now if it were possible.

post 1 updated....

new results.

Thank you sir. Have you tallied the current demands for these bulbs in all posts now? A brief, optimistic review of all posts looks like there is 185-200, not including yours, Nite.

im trying to get the ball rolling already in fact.

Cool. It would be good to make a list of names & their range of desired number so we can all see where we are. I think you probably already know the approximate price range, but your invester can give feedback including delivery costs.

The other thing I wondered is if these come at the 1499 longer leg length, as that may enable them to be put into other bipin holders.

Please add me to the list for 10 pcs 1794. They are remarkable bulbs for their size. From my own observations, they seem comparable in output to the WA 1111.

OK Im ready to proceed, I have spoken to Carley Lamps. found the file...spoke to my investor, and FiveMega who gave his blessing for this to happen.

Carley lamps will not sell me these bulbs until they can contact FM and verify I have permission to do this. Nor will they go into the great detail needed for my investor to write a check.

they called him but are waiting to hear back I think.😕

NO pressure FM! 😗

I am doing this in the "spirit of a group buy" but we will pay for the lamps to be made available...maybe we can make a few dollars to pay the new Marketplace fees while were at it

Remember I do this because I was once frustrated by not being able to purchase a FM body or LEEF body anywhere.....I feel these 18mm bodies, 1794 bulbs, extensions...are essential to the beginner and advanced flashlight enthusiast or cop. Theres just some times you cant carry a Modded m@glight with you..like on a plane!

I cant imagine EDCing anything bigger than a 2x18650 or 3x18500 which I now love for 3 cell lights...

3x18650 stays in the car...

I will make this sales thread or "commitment to buy" thread as soon as I know pricing info.

We are a go!

Im 100% positive I can now make this happen..and I want too soooo badly.

I dont want to run out of these. Im willing to stock them for years...if I must. I own like 10 FM D26 sockets....

but a word of advice..when I have these made, get them while you can!

Unless they move fast at high profit margins they will be a limited run item...250 lamps, one time only...

ok have I said too much yet?

thanks for LuxLuthors work, lovecpf and Bimmerboy DM51 my investor wonderlite, FiveMega, Nfetterly..and everyone who promised to buy or helped spread the word

I agree, and they are smaller, they have a much nicer beam shape in my humble opinion. A focused 1794 is artifact free.
(when compared to a G4 Bulb in a D26 reflector...)
I wonder what the price will be...

I'll second that  !

Great work, Nite, and thanks to all involved as well.

lovecpf

spoke to CL...thanks FM!

Waiting to hear back from investor on Go, or No Go, on this mission.

Turns out minimum order since these were last purchased in sept '07 has doubled to 500 to get a discount on volume.

also the cost to make them has gone up for obvious economic reasons.

But I expect a Launch despite bad weather!:wow:

I wish I could tell my investor we had more promises to buy!

It turns out, for anyone who doubted it, Fivemega really wasnt making money on bulbs. Now I feel guilty even though I ordered so many sockets I cant count..my "bulb only" orders really were a trip to the post office for zero profit...

I will have more info later, by which time I hope to see more interested parties. I know the forum makes you wait 60 seconds...so use emaill..call your friends...if this doesnt happen im gonna run out of FM1794 for my own personal use by may 2012 MAX or so....lovecpf

Minimum of 500? See if maybe FM can help you weasel them down to the 250 or 300 quantity...or maybe he has more "juice" with them if he were to place a reorder after being advanced the cashola by your investorola? That seems illogical to increase minimum and unit price for larger amount. If there is a price "bump" on minimum of 250, it may still make more sense to do it that way, than get stuck with a few hundred.

One other idea which FM may consider is a bulb holder adapter variation with closer sockets that people could use these bulbs in a Mag. ?

I'd be in for up to 3-5 as well. I can't afford to get 10 at a time and I just need some spares for my "bump in the night" light. These have awesome output.

I just squashed one into an E2d on 2 x IMR cells, and a FM E series lamps holder ( TL3/ Stiron socket )

Its not pretty as there is small gap between head and body, as can't screw the bezzle down all the way due to focus issues.

I'd realy prefer it if you could ask carley to drop the filament height by 2 or 3mm to help get a better focus easier, but it is a bright little sucker.

Had to uprate the surefire stock tailswitch to handle the current draw.

I just did the same thing.. then dropped it (and broke the bulb
:mecry🙂

if you can get your hands on the old style domed lens E2D head, it gives you a little more room for the bulb...
the 1794 puts out an AMAZING amount of lumens and did not need "focusing" in mine.
