I have recently received my E01, and I hesitate to complain to much. The quality is excellent, and I knew it wouldn't be that bright. BUT, the CPF safe light seems much brighter, and it only uses a CS led vs the GS led of the E01. Why? Is the safe-light driven a lot harder? It claims 20 hours on high from a 9V, and the E01 10 hours from a AAA. Or is it some trick of the optics used on the safe-light? I would like to see a GS put in the safe-light, but the few threads I read about modding them didn't go very well. Apparently they aren't really designed for disassembly, huh?

Sit a 9v and AAA cell next to each other and ask yourself which looks like it has more stored power.

And yes, optics make a dimmer light look much brighter than it really is.

My Safe-lights does not have optic to shape beam, just plastic lens.
Led in safe-light is driven much harder, same level as Arc.
I have modded Arc AA and Safe-light with GS leds and they are about equal in brightness.

Safe-light is pretty easy to mod. Remove clip and peel off the rubber, board is hold in place with two screw.

Comparing E01 to safe-light is not usefull, they are so different with different usages.
You woudn't put safe light in your frontpocket?
and E01 is not easy to attach to freeze door.

I have given my Safe-lights to older people for bed side lights.
